Chapter 80: The Aftermath of War

*Micah*

Arriving back at the village, a thousand tasks present themselves to me all at once, and I am overwhelmed. I stand in the center of the pack village, surrounded by the chaos of warriors returning from battle. I'm their Alpha, and it's my duty to make sure everyone is taken care of. But my mind is elsewhere. Three of our warriors died in the battle, and I know I need to go to their families, to offer my condolences and support.

And then there's Zariah. I can feel the pull of her even now, even though I’ve lost track of her and don’t know exactly where she’s at. I’m going to have to face what happened between us eventually, but I don’t want to at the moment. It’s too much.

I busy myself with taking care of the warriors coming in, making sure the wounded are cared for and everyone is settled. But I know I can't avoid her for much longer. We need to talk, to sort out our feelings and figure out what the future holds for us.
