Chapter 31: Who Cries For You?

Victoria P.O.V

Victoria stirs a pot of pasta into another pot containing thick red sauce with mince, bay leaves, and basil. The sweet smell wafts throughout the light kitchen, making her smile in nostalgic bliss.

When she and Antoni were kids, the chef would allow them to sit on the red leather bar stools on one side of the white island and watch. Their young and innocent eyes would stare intensely, memorizing each tool and ingredient used in the dish. Such a simple dish for such a simple day, yet it brought them so much joy.

“I thought I smelt something delicious.”

Victoria shakes the memory away and blinks rapidly through the rising steam at the sound of Antoni’s voice. She turns, lips arching into a delicate smile. “I wanted to cook something that would make you smile.”
