Chapter 40: The Hammer Strikes

Antoni P.O.V

It’s a weird feeling, being proud of something that makes your insides rearrange themselves repeatedly. But he is proud – breaking Matthew Greenwood was one of his quickest, and cleanest, sessions yet.

His heart swells exponentially and his throat burns, every ounce of spit swallowed tasting like rotten eggs.

There really is no getting used to this feeling.

He left Matthew in the interrogation room for Luka to deal with and made his way to the bathroom across the hall. Handling the prisoners has always been Luka’s job, one he enjoys doing too. His silent eyes are great at unnerving the people they bring in, beneficial for ‘pre-Amato-interaction’ and ‘post-Amato-interaction’.

Antoni has never seen the appeal. Spending any more time than necessary with the people he’s forced to beat up makes his skin crawl, and he’s never been able to figure out if it was in exhilaration or revulsion. He suspects it’s a bit of both, which makes it even worse.
