Chapter 33

A fine mist of saltwater from the Pacific rose over the western-facing cliffs at Redwood Ridge Park, mingling with a thin fog across the damp grass. On the south grounds, a few kiddie rides were in full dizzying effect. Game tents had been set up not far away. Local food vendors were lined up along the fenced cliff ledge, sending the scent of popcorn, salted nuts, and roasting meat into the humid air. A cool breeze knocked the mild temperature to chilly, despite the rare sun appearance.

Flynn crossed his arms and scanned the park. The north grounds were where he and Gabby were supposed to participate in the activities soon. How he got suckered into that, he hadn't a clue. In years past, local businesses had two representatives compete. Gabby, Zoe, or Brent had always done it for the clinic.
