BOOK TWO: GIVE UP THE GHOST

Kerry Baker so did not need a migraine right now. Not on the eve of a meeting for their next Phantoms investigation at the buttcrack of dawn. She needed rest. She didn't get the headaches as often as she used to, so she'd been able to wean off of the preventative medicine last year and just stick to her compensatory for acute symptoms.

She plopped on the couch in her living room and rubbed her forehead. She knew better than to ignore the warning signs. She'd waited too long to take her scrip and now she sat in the dark, nauseous, head pounding, and wanting to die.
