Chapter 28

Janette and Jerry Braxton were seventy if they were a day, and the most eccentric people Kerry had come across in a long while. Considering what she did for a living, that was saying a lot. Janette's hair was an interesting shade of bluish-gray and Jerry's was dyed a midnight black, which made him look like an elderly vampire. Both wore full cowboy get-ups in uproariously unnatural colors.

The crew had forgone lunch out earlier and had ordered room service instead so they could do more research into doppelgangers. It wasn't until Cain had started explaining what he'd found that Kerry even remembered she'd heard of this haunting type before. Back in college, during one of her English courses, they'd studied the works of a poet whose sonnets reflected having seen his own self, foreshadowing his death. He died two weeks after.
