Chapter 39: The Hunt For Innocence

The woman who argued against us during our court hearing today was standing at our front door. Everything in me wanted to slam the door in her face. She had no right to show up here after she stood in a courtroom and told me that I couldn’t take care of the kids.

“Can I help you?” I asked, frantically trying to find my car keys. “This isn’t really a good time.”

“I came to talk to you and your foster father,” she said, keeping herself out of the threshold of our house.

Before I had the chance to tell her to get out of here, Seth came sprinting over to the door.

“Wes and Jasper are on their way to help us look for Oliver!” Seth shouted.

I turned back to the woman. She went straight into CPS mode, “Where is Oliver Anderson?” she asked.

There’s no point in lying anymore. The verdict has been decided and this woman can’t do anything more to hurt us.
