The next night, the kids all gave me a standing ovation as I walked down the stairs. 


Tonight is my first real date with Wes. 


Actually, tonight is my first real date … ever. 


Jasper came over to watch the kids with Eric. I know that Jasper isn’t going to pay the kids any attention. He’s going to be clinging to Eric, wanting to know everything about the countries he’s been to. 


Wes drove in silence after he picked me up from my house. According to him, he wanted tonight to be a surprise, so he is not taking us to the exact location. 


“This could be considered a form of kidnapping in a court of law,” I said when Wes denied me the privilege of knowing where we were going. 


“Trust me, I want to never go into a courtroom again for as long as I live,” Wes grinned. 


Wes pulled over on a random corner. I couldn’t tell where we were, but I knew we were on the Southside of Fairview. 


In a few days, the Southside of Fairview is going to be my home.
