Before the Party

After she left, Trent and crew went about checking out the house again. Akane finished the dishes and put them out to dry, and then went about cleaning as she always had. This was her home, and she had lived here for years. She was quite used to her daily routine. She hummed to herself while going about dusting, wiping, polishing.

Now that the sheets had come back off, dust began to settle on all the surfaces again. She was busy tidying up, going into the rooms and making the beds, fluffing pillows, and tucking and folding the sheets.

While she was finishing in Trents room, Trent and Terrance walked in talking. "I think we should probably close off the top floor, Might be too much if people spread out everywhere" Trent said.

Terrance agreed "I feel ya bruh, but how ya gonna stop em?" asking to follow up. In deed, how would they stop people from wandering where it wasnt closed off, and there were no locks in the house at all.

"I am ordering a new set of locks for the house. Maybe that will be enough to at least keep them out of some of the rooms" Trent adds, hitting some icons on his phone and sifting through an online store. He smiled finding what he thought was a nice looking style of knobs. They were a dusted bronze, with an antique look to them. They were ornate and intricate with a thumb button instead of a twist handle. He blanched at the price of them at first, but remembering he still had fifty k in the bank, and another forty nine thousand in cash, He counted the rooms and doors in his head, added a few more, and then bought them all from the online store, even paying for rush drone delivery. This was a new service they had just started in his area, but the cost was high and not free like traditional delivery methods. However he had the money, so why not spend it?

Akane smiled seeing him slowly getting used to the fact he can do what he wanted in the house. Trent saw her smile and smiled back at her. She blushes and runs out of the room to finish working in the rest of the house. She did not know why, but when he looked at her, her heart beat faster, and a weird feeling sprouted in the pit of her stomach.

Trent shook his head, he did not understand women. Shrugging it off they both went back to walking around and looking at things.

In the end, They had decided to lock all the upstairs rooms, leave the second flood rooms open, and lock up the study and sitting rooms after moving most of the valuable items into them.

While Trent "knew" most of the people he was going to invite, he still did not know them well, or trust all of them. He would not take chances with the items. If anything went missing, Theodore could say he sold it, and he would lose.

The rest of the day they spent moving items into the study and sitting room. Most of the statues, stuffed animal heads, fur rugs, and small trinkets and knick knacks were moved and store in these rooms. The drones started dropping off the packages, and Trent and Terrance began changing out the knobs across the house. Because they were generic, every single one of them had a different key for now. Trent had tried to set up a lock smith, but they were booked out a couple of weeks.

By the end of the night, Most of the items had been moved. Most of the door locks had been installed with fresh handles. They once again ordered take out, this time getting dim sum. They munched on dumplings and rice with sauce, drinking hot tea. They were even using chop sticks. Trent enjoyed eating with chop sticks, they felt more refined than simply stabbing something with a fork. It also helped slow him down from gobbling his food up to fast.

Trent also enjoyed hot teas. He did not like sweet drinks, and because of this, southern style sweet tea was always way to sweet for him. He much preferred the tart flavor of authentic jasmine tea, or oolong depending on where he was ordering from. Trent never short changed himself on food, even when living on a budget. He would eat one good meal versus three crappy meals from the local fast food burger joint. He suspected they did not even use real meat in the cheaper sandwiches. He also did not know how they still had chicken sandwiches for a dollar when the closest breast filet sandwich anywhere else was five dollars or more. He suspected their food would rot his stomach if he ate too much of it.

They finished their meal, enjoying both fried and steamed dumplings of varying types and sizes with different stuffings and flavors. The tart black sauce was also something special and offset the flavors perfectly. Trent then spoke out "So I think I would like to use a live to promote the party. I mean if we are gonna do it, might as well go big right?"

Terrance agreed "Fuck yeah bro! Lets get one of those fancy catering joints too! Lets even do a wet bar!"

They both traded Ideas, and Trent had his phone out ordering different services. While his phone was a touch screen, it was not anything fancy, and was at least four generations old by this point. It was slow, and worked off the older mobile system. He noted that would be something else he wanted to change later.

Surprisingly enough, he found a couple of wet bar and catering services, but they both had limits to the number of people at somewhere around a hundred. Trent thought about how big his streams were, and thought that would not be enough.

He booked them all.

He also booked a DJ who had great reviews, and hired a valet service. He didnt want cars piling up in front of his house or down the street. Thinking about this too, He might need to hire some moonlighting officers to direct traffic and keep the peace. He thought about that and pulled a card from his pocket. He dialed the number.

"Officer Johnson speaking, how may I help you?" the phone answered.

Trent replied "Hello Sir, this is Trent, you met me the other day...."

And before he could even finish the officer start "OH YEAH!!! Sir, what is it tonight? Another stalker? or another assault?"

Trent stopped, he had completely forget that within two days he had seen these officers twice, for differing reasons. He sighed "No Sir, I am calling because I will be throwing a party at my house, and would like to request police to help keep traffic and things from getting too crazy."

The officers almost seemed sad, but then thought about who was asking and instantly his voice became excited. "How many officers do you need Sir?"

Trent thought about it and answered "Maybe four or six at most. I am not sure how to go about hiring them though, can you help?"

The officer was grinning on his end of the phone "There is no need for that sir, I can alert my captain to the assignment, and I will personally find the men for the job."

Trent smiled, again this officer was helping him out. He looked at the card and valued it a little higher this time. "Ok and how do I go about the pay? How much does it usually cost?"

The officer thought "Well Sir, that is entirely up to you and how much you think its worth for the job, but if it is too cheap, I might struggle to find officers to help you." replying to him.

Trent nodded on his side of the phone as a reaction and was pondering. "Ok, well, how does fifty an hour sound? It will probably go most of the night also."

The officer hid his excitement well, fifty an hour was a great rate! "I think that will be more than adequate Sir, and when do you need us?"

"Tomorrow night starting at ten pm" Trent answered.

The officer was even happier! He had ended his three day shift today, and was free to take extra work on his days off. Tomorrow and the next two days afterwords were his days off. He would personally be able to help "Ok, We will see you then Sir."

Trent would be very thankful later he had hired the police, he had no idea how crazy this party was about to get.

Trent also rented a lot down the street to park the cars, and would station two of the officers there just to keep peoples cars from getting broken into.

Looking back on all his preparations, Trent smiled. He had spent almost twenty thousand dollars just getting ready for this party. He then retired upstairs and went to sleep.

Tomorrow would be a very interesting day.
