COLD weather blanketed Cameron Highlands that morning. Panorama is also shrouded in thick fog, fading the beautiful scenery from afar. 17 degrees Celsius the temperature reached, enough to make the body shiver cold.
The girl continued to do her work. Routines that she made every day. Even in a state of slight shivering, she did not care. It's normal and still considered at a good level though. If outside the country, the temperature is much lower. And could reach a negative read.
Oh! She would die definitely!
The girl continued to swing her step. Go down through the existing alleys. A pair of eyes looked around, observing rows of flowers in bloom, beautifully colorful, lush fragrant arranged on the left and right.
These are her 'friends' in the morning all this time. An inspiration to start her work. Other people enter the office and sit in front of the computer, files, meetings until got stressed. But she ... she is happy to face these thousands of types of roses that are pleasing to the eyes.
That's why she had fun every time go to work. Can't wait to meet her 'friends' as soon as duty starts. No stress, no problems, no dizziness. All she has is just a feeling of happiness and excitement. Even the stress didn't have time to catch up with.
The girl's lips twitched into a smile.
"It doesn't matter if I go to work wearing a shirt with these shabby jeans. Instead of beautiful wear, the high heel sheath, with ten-inches thick make-up on my face but gets stressed, what for? Not worth it! With having to face all sorts of messes things in the office. Huh! Could be crazy!"
The girl continued to move her steps. Occasionally, she stops when her eye catches the affected flower plant. Any damaged, she trims it out. And the action will be over until she completed examining the whole Rose Centre.
"Hurmm! This one... trouble. Huge trouble when my 'friends' are tainted. Oh gosh! My eyes are hurt seeing all you guys like this!"
That tall figure stopped. Right in front of a dead rose tree. With a resentful heart, she cut off the end of the rose tree and separated it from the others.
"Leanne! Leanne!"
"Huh! This one is double trouble. Every time I do my work, there must be someone messing around. Argh… cut my mood!!" The girl muttered while patting her forehead. She got up from kneeling. Squeezing her waist and searched for the voice who called her name just now.
"Leanne!"
"Yes, my dear Ai Ling. What's the matter?"
"There's someone came looking for you, maa."
"Who?"
The Chinese girl shrugged. "Don't know. He said your friend."
"Guy or girl?"
"A guy."
Leanne frowned. There was never a friend looking for her in the workplace. And it's a guy. If the customer, she's not surprised.
"I go first. Your friend is waiting in front there."
Once the girl passed, Leanne arranged her steps. While walking, she took off her dirty gloves.
"Who is coming?" whispered the girl herself. The head kept thinking about who was the 'friend' that Ai Ling meant.
As far as Leanne knows, she doesn't have many male friends. Can be counted by fingers. If there is any, that close to her, only one. But it won't be...
Leanne's mind tried to deny it. But what is she denied, that's what comes up in front. A pretty familiar face. Very familiar to her eyes.
"Leanne."
"It's you, Black."
"Yeah. I am."
"What did you dream last night? Appearing all of a sudden till find me at work."
"How are you, Leanne? Good?"
"As you can see. If wasn't good, I wouldn't be stuck here. Still sleeping on the single mattress at my house now perhaps."
"Err...," Black scratched his head. His intentions to be friendly continue to die.
"What did you come for? Hmm? How many months haven't seen your face, suddenly you appeared today? At my workplace? Are you insane or what?"
"Why do you say that, dude? I just came to see you. Is it wrong?"
"No, you're not. But... unbelievable! Usually, when you come looking for me, there must be a hidden purpose. There's a shrimp behind the rock. Don't you?"
For once again, Black scratched his non-itchy head. Leanne's words really slapped him.
"It's not good to be prejudiced against your friends, Leanne."
Heh! Leanne's face was cynical.
'Prejudice? We'll see in a few moments. Who is prejudiced, who speaks dishonestly.'
"What do you want, Black? Speak quickly. I am working now. If I get fired because of you, your head I'll cut off!"
"Oh! Don't be like that, Leanne. I came here in a good way."
"Then... hurry up and talk!"
"I... I...,"
"What?"
"Err... I... err..."
"I… I. I am what?! Oh… you really made me lose my temper. Don't make my fist kiss your face, Black!"
Quickly Black swung his legs closer to his best friend. "Relax, Leanne. Don't be so mad. Alright... yes. I come here actually to ask you for a little help."
Bingo!
The bait has hit!
Since childhood, they have been friends. Every inch of Black's attitude, Leanne could read.
"Am I right? If you come to see me, there must be something!"
"I'm stuck right now, Leanne. I need some money."
"I knew it. You have nothing else if suddenly come looking for me. Money, money, and money. Your old debts still haven't been paid yet."
"Please, Leanne. You're the only friend I have. I really need the money now. After all, Jane is going to give birth."
Leanne took a deep breath. Hearing Jane's name mentioned, all the anger that had been burning was stifled.
"How much do you want?" asked the girl.
"Five hundred."
Once again Leanne took a deep breath. "I'll go home first and see how much I have. Anything, I will call. But I can't promise to give as much as you want."
As fast as lightning Black grabbed Leanne's arm. "Thank you, Leanne! Thank you very much! You're my good friend!"
"Whoaaa... don't touch me! Just talk, that's enough! I'm going to get back to my work. You know how to come, right? Then, be smart go back on your own!"
Leanne turned away and left Black with her satisfied smile.
