They Are Supposed to be Bigger

Six pairs of eyes stared at the flopping human adult-sized fish with sharp teeth on the boat's floorboard.

It only took three seconds for the two pairs of eyes belonging to the boat's magic users to divert and focus back to control the sea water's movement. The other three pairs turned to Heon, who was grimacing at the thought of 'what if the fish fly and chomp off my hand?'

Instead of Sunny and his – sometimes – truthful remarks, it was Myron who broke the short silence. "It's the first time I see someone use their magic power to summon a fish."

Heon blinked and looked up, finally noticing that he was the center of attention. He shrugged, almost voicing his denial of taking credit for this strange-fish sudden appearance. He thought better of it.

Besides, Sunny looked far too smug after proving that he did not lie about Heon. And Azran was staring at him with a strange look – as if she finally approved that he was not a complete loser and could be of use. Not a particularly positive feeling if he was asked about it.

"If only you're not the most wanted murderer in the kingdom, I'll offer you a job already." Myron said before he gave Heon a last glance and went back to maintain the boat's movement.

He had never worked before, but Heon wouldn't be opposed to working and getting some money on the way. Though, he never pictured himself as a fisherman. Much less a fisherman who used magic to summon strange fishes from the sea.

"You owe me fifty Pasai." Sunny grinned, leaning closer with crossed arms to the only girl in their rag-tag three-people team.

Azran huffed, either irked by Heon's unknown extraordinary magic power or Sunny's hand demanding a hefty amount of money. "I don't owe you anything."

"You clearly do."

"I do not."

"Yes, you do."

"I do not."

"You do."

"Tell me, why would I bet fifty Pasai for something as strange as this?" Azran mimicked the now blond-haired manic boy. She crossed her arms on her chest, and Heon resisted pointing out that she didn't have much in that certain department.

"Do I look like I care why you bet with me? All I want is that fifty Pasai you owe me." Sunny clicked his tongue and once again shoved his open palm in front of the only girl in the company. "Now."

Heon sighed and opened his mouth, "As the subject of your rude betting that was not approved by me, I have a right to disband the betting pool."

"Nonsense," Sunny dismissed him right away. "I don't need your permission to bet."

"When did this supposed betting pool take place again? Because I clearly remember not meeting you since we boarded the boat." Azran retorted. "Did you trip on air and hit your head or something?"

"Who do you take me for? A blind five years old?"

"A crazy boy, that's for sure."

Sunny's face flushed red, almost to the point of being the same as his previous hair color. "I may be crazy, but I will still pay my due if I ever lost a bet. Which never happened, I tell you."

"There's no bet to begin with."

"Of course, there is. I bet I'll dance naked for an hour if what I said about Heon's beast-control magic is a lie. But it is not, we all saw it. So, give me my fifty Pasai now."

Heon unconsciously took a step back, mind reeling at the thought of seeing this blond-haired manic boy dancing naked for an hour. No matter how handsome he may be, Heon would never enjoy seeing another boy's junk swaying freely in front of him.

By the shocked squeak beside him, Azran shared the same opinion. "Even picturing it gives me a shudder, let alone agreeing to your bet. You've really lost your mind if you think I want that."

Seeing the blatant horror on Azran's face made the blond-haired manic boy's smile fade. He looked really concerned. Neat eyebrows knitted together above his confused red eyes. "You don't?"

"Do I really have to repeat myself?"

Heon rolled his eyes as Sunny hummed and looked up at the air. It was a first, seeing the usually grinning-madly boy looking so focused as if he was pouring all of his minds into uncovering this mystery of the nonexistent betting pool.

"By your silence, I bet you made it up," Heon muttered carelessly, prompting a solid hit on his shoulder. He hissed, glaring at Sunny.

"I don't make it up. I swear, this bet was made after she knocked my flaming lemon beer." Sunny still insisted.

"And when did I ever knock your disgusting drink when you just disappeared the moment we stepped foot in this boat?"

The blond manic boy opened his mouth, but no sound came out of him. He faltered, one hand raised as if to emphasize what he was about to say. But there was nothing he could say.

Azran grinned smugly at this. "Finally come to your common sense, huh?"

"Shut up."

You should check your head with a healing mage. Just in case you develop early dementia or were cursed by someone you annoyed by your presence alone."

Azran's remark made metaphorical smoke come out of his ears.

"Oops. I forgot. You're a healing mage yourself."

"Shut the fuck up!"

Heon sighed. He was about to leave them alone, but something bothered his mind. With suspecting eyes, he turned to the blond manic boy. "If it wasn't her, who did you make this bet with?"

"Why? You're interested in betting too, now?"

"It's not like that. I just want to know what else you bet on?"

Sunny scoffed. The red flush on his cheek somehow remained. "Not your ass, for sure. I'm not careless enough to bet with strangers about the location of the most wanted murderer in this kingdom, dummy."

He stared with a flat face. "Good to know. Because if you do, I'll throw the fish right at you."

"As if you can."

"You're the one who said I can control beasts."

"Right."

This time, Azran interrupted. "But it's not really a beast. I mean, it's just a razor-toothed fish from the sea. Beasts are supposed to be bigger."

His jaw almost dropped at the nonchalant remark. "An adult human-sized strange fish is not big enough for you?"

Sunny shook his head, "I know girls like boys with big penis, but I don't think–"

Azran threw a punch, but the blond mage evaded gracefully. "We are talking about beasts here."

"And you should see the beast between my le–"

He failed to dodge the punch this time.

Heon sighed again at this display of ridiculousness. They acted so childishly most of the time, and it annoyed him to some degree. "Can you not contradict each other for a day? I swear, the only time you two got along was when we ran from the city guards."

"You call that us getting along. I call that desperation," Sunny said as he tried to land a kick on the green-haired mage.

"If being desperate makes you two get along, I'd really wish for a kraken to appear and attack the boat. At least, you'll be working together instead of attacking each other."

And just like that.

A Kraken appeared.
