Ch.8 Taking a walk

Herbert went out of the door ant got on his way. He would normally take the bus but that would take the same time as walking and it was a wonderful sunny day.

Because he had still time left he stopped at Georg's shop but Georg was nowhere to be found. That was quite uncommon. Georg normally opened his shop at six thirty in the morning and he did that for the last five years, since he got the store, no matter the circumstances Storm, illness or a small riot. The shop was always open but not today.

Herbert worried about Georg and called him at home right away. The phone was ringing but no one answered. Because Herbert had some time to spend so he went through the shop, Herbert got the keys two years ago after he started helping out in Georg's store.

He walked through the store and then the went up the stairs. Half on the first floor he heard George arguing with a woman but the stairs crunched and the arguing subsided. Herbert reached the first floor and knocked at the door. "Herbert is that you?" He heard Georg's voice.

"Yes i had some time left and i saw that the store is closed and i was worried. Do you have visitors?" Herbert asked. George answered "Indeed my sister is visiting me but she is very shy so please excuse that i won't open the door" Herbert thought that he heard a dull hit behind the door.

"Don't get late. Even if you have some time to spare better be early than sorry. You hear me?" "Yes i hear you grandpa, i am on my way." Herbert joked. "See you later"

Herbert left the house and so he did not hear that the female voice asked Georg "And you are sure that we can trust him?" in which responded with "Yes i would trust that boy with my life just be sure to give chance to decide for himself. He is listening to much to the propaganda but if you show him the truth then he should be on our site. He is a smart boy he is just too naive. Sometimes i wish i would be as naive as the boy. It would for sure be a lot easier than living with the ugly truths of the world." "You are right it would be easier but i rather know the truth than to live in the bliss of ignorance, all in all i understand what you mean but i am very sorry that we have to tear him out of his world just to pull him into our dark one." But Herbert did not hear anything about that.

Herbert walked out of the store and went his way to the test. After he went around the next corner Herbert heard a voice from behind "Hey is that you Herbert." The voice belonged to his crush Magdalena. She was 1.6 Meters high and with that 20 cm smaller than him. Magdalena was 4 years older than him. She had long wavy brown hair and all in all she was out of his league even through she was from Larunan out of his league and he knew it. Her parents where rich and her father was the manger of the big mine of the city. He knew he had no chance so he did not try to make a move.

"Yes it's me." he said and asked further more "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school or something?" "You sound like my father but i have to do something in town, there are some documents that have to be signed." looking at her watch she noticed that she would be late "I am sorry but i have to run. I am late." and with that she ran away before Herbert could say good bye.
