Guard Team casualties

[Margaret's POV]

I had just been unreasonably venting my pent-up emotions at Donald, and while I could bear to see that out-of-control side of myself when facing my mate, I still felt somewhat embarrassed if a stranger were to see it.

The plan was as childish as a three-year-old's.

Donald, keenly aware of my thoughts, glanced at Ruth, whose presence was almost negligible, and a tender smile slowly spread across his eyes, "Feeling shy now? You weren't embarrassed when you were crying with me earlier."

As he spoke, he leaned in to kiss me and continued in a hushed voice, "Don't be shy or embarrassed; I like it when you vent your emotions to me. It means you recognize me as your closest, most trusted person. I like that. Margaret, I love you."

Donald seldom opened up like this, and I was almost surprised as I opened my eyes to look at him, but I quickly 'drowned' in his gaze which held only me.
