Gabriel stood by the bench watching Anne storm off. His heart sank. Why must life be like this? He sat on the bench and put his face in his hands. He knew Anne would not believe him, and he was wrong to bring up her visions, but how else could he tell her the truth. Gabriel expected the conversation to be complicated, but it blew up faster than he thought.
Crickets chirped, filling the quiet night sky. He would do anything to follow Anne back home, but he understood that was the wrong thing to do. Following her would mean he would knock on the door and beg for her forgiveness, and he could not do that if he wanted her to believe his words. The wind blew and someone put their hand on his shoulder. He looked up hoping to see Anne, but disappointment filled his face when he saw Raquel standing in front of him with the moonlight bouncing off her red hair.
“Gabriel, I am so sorry,” Raquel said with a sad look sprawled across her face.
