A Mother’s Blessing

True to her unwanted thought, her coworkers in the library were giving her side-eyed glances and questioning stares. They even had the audacity to whisper behind her back.

And no, it wasn't because she came wearing the same clothes as yesterday.

No.

It was because she wore completely different clothes than yesterday.

Instead of a white dress shirt under her dull and worn-out cardigan, she was wearing a crisp, well-fitted suit jacket over a brand new, soft, baby blue dress shirt.

She was also no longer wearing her khaki with two holes on her ankle, courtesy of her landlord's dog burying his teeth there. Nate had insisted that she wore the suit's pants. It accentuates the curves of her legs.

Keira wanted to ask him if he thought she was fat, slightly offended that he said that. But the dreamy look on his face stopped her. She briskly strode past him then.

Someone was cat-calling her.
