Meredith isn't there when you make your way out to the western edge of town this time, and you wonder for a moment if she really did leave this time. But as you pace restlessly back in the general direction of the inn, you see a figure far off to the north, and discover Meredith standing farther away from Elith than before, alone in the night. Avoiding guard patrols who might notice she's not scheduled to be there, you assume.
"You're back," she says as you approach, voice fainter than usual. Her eyes narrow, but she otherwise makes no reference to your altercation earlier. "I may not be the best conversationalist just now." Her face is hard to make out in the dark, particularly with her hair blowing in the wind around it, but she looks like she's concentrating intensely on something—her spell to detect her fellow demons' approach, you assume.
