Evander stiffens as you walk past him. "You were meant to be more than this, you know," he calls, loudly enough that it's fortunate the guests from the memorial have already retreated. "Did that ever mean anything to you? You lied for years—you lied to my face for weeks—and now this?"

"Is that all you wanted to say?" you ask.

"Jun, there are so many things…" Evander trails off, shaking his head. "It doesn't matter, does it? I'm going back to Archa with you. I need to protect the crown from whatever you've brought down upon it. And, obviously, I'll be speaking to Despina. But I don't see much point in us discussing this any further now. Find me when the carriage is leaving. I'll be helping rebuild the library."

You nod. It seems he's right that there isn't much to say.
