S2 Chapter 4

"Princess, I finally found you," Ezra said approaching her park bench.

"Ezra, what does father want this time?"

"What do you think he wants?...He misses you, and he wants to celebrate your transition. He's made it a very big thing n the realm, you know you can't stay here forever, you know?" He said, but her lips remained sealed like she hadn't even heard him. He began to stand up, when she finally drifted from her long thinking train.

"Ezra what do you understand about the concept of love? It's a human emotion is it not, what does it mean to them?" His eyes widened at her question and he sighed when he met her determined eyes.

"Love...isn't exactly a word anyone can explain, princess."

"Meaning?" She asked standing beside him now.

"Meaning, its an unexplainable phenomenon it just so happens that it exists in its own way. I may not know much about it, but I know it's the strongest emotion that humans posses." She nodded and then groaned when two hours ago clicked into her head.

* * * *

TWO HOURS LATER...

She stood up wen Kingsley had walked in, standing by the door way, staring down at her. His expression full of surprise and hurt. She didn't like the look, but it had to be done for both their sakes. She stood before him, with all bags packed and dressed to leave.

"Nikita, hey..." He began but she raised a hand to stop him, and he did, but she also suffered from that guilt.

"Before you speak, let me say my piece then I'll be out of your hair. I'm not mad and neither can I stay for that reason, I mean its time. I can't have my transition here on human territory. I may even hurt you. What happened earlier, was something we both were avoiding and it resurfaced. I may be put on for a forced marriage which I can't prevent any longer."

"I see."

"And you said you loved me, what exactly do you love about me? I'm fairly curious." She asked but received silence, a long silence and her heart started to ache.

"Everything. I love the way you're honest and positive about everything. I am in love with your smile, you're enthusiasm for human life, how you never make me feel normally like myself, who is quiet and inactive and..."

"Depressed?"

"Harsh, but true. Back to this, You make me happy, you make me feel complete."

"I still don't understand, what does it feel like?"

"You've heard all the stories when you see the person your heart flatters, they are the only thing you can think about. Is she okay, Is she happy, sometimes you even wonder if she might be thinking about you. Being with that person just makes you forget everything, because that person is the one thing you will ever need in your life." Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open, then shut again slowly.

"That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, is that how you feel?" She asked and he chuckled low and quietly.

"For the most part, but yes. But I hope if you have to go, I don't want you to leave with this line we might have drawn from earlier."

"I don't want to leave but I can't risk you being there, it's safer this way."

"You'll come back right? For me? For us?" He asked, but the narrow of her eyes answered his question, and he stepped closer to hug her close. She smiled as she pulled away from him and placed a kiss on his cheek before turning around to leave.

Maybe you could say that's how I lost her but, I had to hope for something different.
