027: Smile In The Dark

Divyat was beyond confused why he was being attacked, he moved back trying to put space between him and the lizard man, but the larger humanoid had an extra-long reach than what Divyat could escape from. He got his face slashed, eliciting a cry of pain from him before an ugly looking man with a bowl of water on his head came forwards, his hands pushing forwards as a stream of water flew out of the bowl and smashed into Divyat's chest, throwing him backwards until his back smashed into the cave wall.

He landed on the ground with a cry of pain, but a punch to the side of his head from a hulking Minotaur cut the cry short before it could come out fully from his mouth. Divyat growled, unknowingly showing a bit of teeth with longer than normal incisors as he spat out a mouth full of blood. He was slowly getting angry, but his assailants did not seem to care about it, it was obvious that they had all been waiting for him. Perhaps this mugging as a whole has been in planning for a lot longer than Divyat thought, probably from the very moment the news of him joining this trial was made known.

Though he could still be considered naïve in some places, Divyat was not foolish. He knew for a fact that there was nothing he could say to this bunch of prejudiced individuals that would make them spare his life, much less stop their assault. But he did not come this far to die here, and while he would rather not have any more blood on his hands, at least consciously anyway, he would do anything he could to survive.

He quickly used a palm to slam into the foot advancing towards the side of his face then pushed off from the ground, spearing his shoulder into the midriff of a wolf demi-human. He heard a satisfying grunt as he dragged the wolf man to the ground before jumping up and in the same motion sent a drop kick to a female with three lustrous tails behind her. She let out a wild screech of pain before he landed with an elbow drop right back onto the chest of the wolf man. He rolled over dodging the cloven hoof that smashed into the chest of the wolf man, a wet squelch like sound and loud cracks was proof that the wolf man just had his chest smashed through by the Minotaur.

The girl with three tails, most probably a kitsune or fox lady of some kind let out a screech of shock as she called the name of the now very dead wolf man. That scream brought a lull to the gang up and gave Divyat the precious few moments he needed to get back up to his feet and put his back to the wall and his gaze on the rabble of enemies in front of him. Relying on lessons from the [Tai-Chi Theorem] he raised his hands up in guarded position and kept his center of gravity low as he kept a wary eye on his assailants.

"You Killed Buju!" the Minotaur or was he actually a bull demon now that Divyat took a closer look at him. He didn't know how to differentiate them, but he found out that bull demons, Minotaur's and taurens were all a different species. He had no idea which one of them the individual in front of him was, but he didn't care, he could be monkey for all Divyat cared. Which was why in response to his stupid allegations, Divyat just brought his head down to look at the bloodstained hoof of the Minotaur.

"Sorry for your loss you stupid cow." Divyat responded with a dry look on his face, and in response the 'cow' blew literal steam out of his nostrils, and charged at Divyat, his partners following after in mock hypocritical anger and righteous indignation about the death of their friend. Divyat scoffed in annoyance and met the charge of the Minotaur who got to him before the others. He shifted to the side and clamped a hand on the shoulder of the Minotaur, and in that moment he was left with a split second to make a decision about how lethal his counter attack would be.

It was a second that was long enough for him to take into consideration a couple of things. The wild look on the faces of his would be killer was one, the feel of skin and fur, and the tremors of his opponent's beating heart. The look of shock on the face of the Minotaur as he realized that Divyat had evaded his attack and he was left pretty open for a counter attack. And beyond that was the pounding of Divyat's own heart in his ears. The speed with which his blood flowed through his veins, rushing from one corner to the other with an icy cold feeling.

But the cold felt warm, it felt so damn warm. And it was in such a manner that Divyat could not help the wild smile that appeared on his face. He felt so alive, right now in this moment, he didn't think about his mother, his step father, his sect, Zhao Min, or his brother. There was only rage, life, and a lust to see just how much red he could pull out of a body. He followed on with the momentum of the Minotaur and smashed his head, skull, horns, snout and all right into the cave wall behind him, utilizing all of his new found natural strength and even using Qi to augment his strike.

While the Minotaur's head did not crack open like an egg or watermelon as Divyat expected, both horns were snapped and his skull was caved in from the strike. Even at the foundation establishment realm, there was no escaping death from such a hit, the head remains one of the most vulnerable parts of any Mortal's body. The Minotaur dropped to the ground as Divyat turned to face the rest of them, a smile on his face as he unwittingly decided to give count.

"Two down….ten more to go."
