Chapter 7

Annabelle POV

That dude was a clown.

He was surely expecting that after the vodka stunt he pulled, I'll be falling all over him like some desperate bitch looking for her pimp.

Haha!

I was not a bitch, and neither did he have the capacity to be my pimp if I was. The kind of men I rolled with daily were men you could describe as macho and made.

Note: I only rolled with them, not dated them. And it wasn't for lack of trying on their part either. It was just that, I had a strict rule against dating colleagues. Never had I ever mixed business with pleasure. It always had a way of ruining things.

As my dad would always say, " If you fuck him, it becomes hard to fuck with him."

I didn't care for relationships. I had tried it once and the outcome was a beautiful mess. Men were like ponds in a game of chess. If you play them right, you'll get the Queen of life.

Said in my father's own words.

I wasn't after men's money. I had enough of my own to last me the next fourteen generations.

It was their mind I was after.

The truth was, that men with money were often self-centred and arrogant. I had encountered and dealt with enough of these men to know. So believe me when I say, they are all full of shit.

"With an exception of my daddy of course." My mind corrected.

My father was perfect in every way imaginable. There was no debating that.

Picking up the bottle of vodka with my right hand, I poured myself yet another glass. This was probably the fifth glass or something. I had tilted the bottle to get more into my glass but soon discovered that the bottle was empty. Dropping the bottle back on the table, I brought the glass of vodka to my lips and took a sip. After this class, I was going to relax in the dim bar and order some sparkling water. It was the best way to get sober while waiting for the new key Amy promised.

"Live a little belle, you are too strung tight for your good!"

Where had I heard that saying from again? Oh yes! Isabelle! The second twin of the Belle Crew. You don't wanna know the third. They were my closest friends and I loved them to no end, but still, I hated the fact that of all the voices to creep up on me right now, Izzy's voice was the top on the list. Which only proved one thing.

I was absolutely, completely and irrevocably drunk.

I needed that sparkling water now!

I was trying to signal for the waiter that served I and Amy, but I couldn't see him anywhere. Where the hell had he disappeared to? He had been here just a few minutes ago, right? What was his name again? Was it Justin? Or James? Yeah, I guess it was James. I tilted my glass and drank the rest of the vodka in one gulp.

A waitress was standing by the corner, who noticed I was done and began walking towards me. She had not been the one to serve me, but at least she was around to respond to me. I looked at her tag. 'Meg' was written on it.

"Where is the guy that served me?" I asked as she stopped in front of me.

"Do you mean James?" She asked with a smile on her face, which I couldn't see because it was caked with cheap makeup.

"Yes James, where is he please? Could you call him for me?" I asked her as sweetly as I could manage. I knew fake people when I saw one, and she was fake. Everything she said or did seemed forced. If she didn't like this job, she should have opted for something else.

"He is out on a break now, but not to worry, I have your bill right here with me," she said, handing me a piece of paper that contained my bill. I took it and looked down at it.

"Is it possible you add this to my tab?"

"Yeah, it's no problem. I'll punch it in, then go get your receipt. Just give me a minute." With that she walked away, swaying her tightly padded ass and very short dress as she went.

I reclined on my chair as I waited for Meg to come back. And because I had nothing else to do, my eyes began to wander around the restaurant.

I looked towards the overall show glass and was transfixed for a minute as I watched men, women and children having fun in the sun. I had planned to bathe in the sun too, but the key situation had ruined my entire plan.

My eyes caught a figure sitting just beside the show glass. The way he was seated made his face, and half of his body hidden. Which seemed like he was purposely shielding his face with those beautiful flowers placed on his table.

How strange.

He seemed to be eating and observing at the same time. Come to think of it, there was something quite familiar about his coat. It almost looked like I had seen it earlier today.

Had I?

Why did he look like the guy I bumped into this morning? I had to find out for sure. If it was him, I was gonna have to march over to him and exhibit some form of anger regarding my missing purse. It was the next stage of the plan and this was just perfect timing.

I stood up quickly, intending to stump over to his table and take a sit. I was gonna pretend I wanted to get a better view of the pool. But my real intent would be to get a better view of him.

But as I strode towards him, I collided with a chest.

Fuck! Not again...

"I am so sorry, Miss. I was just coming to your table to talk to you, are you hurt?" A grumpy male voice permeated the air. As I tried to gain some stability, I calmly replied;

"If you wanted to talk to me why did you wait till I was leaving?" When I was righted and back on my feet, I took a step back to look at his face.

And as I looked up, my expression turned to rage.

The bastard!
