Chapter 27

Annabelle's POV

As we drove past the barely lit street, headed for Charles's place, I couldn't help but reminisce on the madness that had occurred earlier. When Charles had barged in on my and my dad's conversation, I had sworn everything was over. I should have been scared of the fact that he might have made me, but instead, I was scared for his life.

I knew without a flicker of doubt that Charles wouldn't have left that restroom alive if he had realised the truth about our conversation. My father would've made sure of it. So when it became apparent that he had only overhead little, I found myself breathing a sigh of relief because, for some unknown reason, I couldn't bear the thought of Charles dying, and that single reaction scared the shit out of me.
