Can't Help Falling In Love

Finally, she took a look at Jon's face trying to see if she could get any clues on what they were talking about.

"You don't have to guess anymore," he took her hand into his as he led her into the park's deeper parts, "follow me, Samantha."

She watches the light shines on the park's leaves, their green color and the yellow light shining through their pale depth.

Some people are sitting on the benches chatting with someone, and others are sitting alone, enjoying the quiet nature of the park and listening to music.

Finally, he brings her into a park where it could just be the three of them here, quiet with only the sound of the birds perched on the trees above them.

Without the sound of the cars running in the streets, just the trees here fill the atmosphere with the smell of nature.

Stopping there in the middle of the garden, he took the guitar case that he was having behind his back, "I know we had only recently met, Samantha, but I want to promise you that I will follow you for the rest my life."

On the side of her, she could already see Jeanette taking her phone out to record this scene, she doesn't even know whether Jeanette can ever be any different, but she likes everything.

She is pretty used to Jeanette being this way.

Taking the guitar out from the case, Samantha watches as he starts to play a minor melodic tune that rings forth so softly from the strings, "This song is called Can't Help Falling in Love."

With his sonorous voice, she starts to become entranced by the beauty of the song:

Wise men say

Only fools rush in

But I can't help falling in love with you

Shall I stay?

Would it be a sin

If I can't help falling in love with you?

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling, so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand

Take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling, so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand

Take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you

For I can't help falling in love with you

Finally finishing the last words of the song softly uttered from his lips, he puts down the guitar by his side and takes out a small box from his pocket.

From seeing the shape of that box, she could guess the content inside and saw a diamond ring he held up with his finger as he kneeled on one knee.

"Samantha, will you marry me," Jon asked, looking deeply into her eyes, waiting for her answer, with a warm smile, gentleness in his tone, "I was always unsure of life. But when I met you, you taught me what love is, opening my eyes to see the world. There's nobody else in my eyes beside you."

"But Jon...I..."

She wanted to say yes to him, but she was afraid that it would just mean bringing more burden to him than what she had already given him.

"I'm not afraid," Jon said honestly, "I don't know about tomorrow. But what I know is right now. And no matter what happens in the future, I'm happy right now, being with you. Here and now, Samantha."

"Come on, say yes already," Jeanette, who was on the side, whispered to Samantha while still recording the whole thing before them.

"Come on, say yes," Jon smiled, telling her, "my leg is getting tired now."

She smiled widely upon hearing him say that and nodded her head; then, putting on the diamond ring onto her finger, he warmly held her in his arms in the next moment.

She had never found herself so happy before, but when he held her into his arm, she was lost in the happiness.

When she was in his arm, she also didn't know what would happen during the short time that she had left, but she couldn't avoid how much she was in love with him, how safe she felt falling into his arms forever.

Closing her phone after recording the video, Jeanette looks at them with a deep perplexion in her eyes.

Ever since she had met Samantha in middle school, she became a sister to her, and all these years that they were together, she felt like she had watched her grow up to be the person she is now, all those steps that were along the way.

She filled a sense of hope for them despite knowing that time was running out for Samantha because she trusted that Jon was the one for her.

From the way he looks at her, he can see that unmistakable sense of certainty in his eyes whenever he watches Samantha.

That feeling that Jon feels for Samantha is not a lie; you can't lie, love, when it is true love.

"Seeing you guys like this makes me want to get married too," Jeanette jokes while giving Samantha a hug celebrating the proposal that went so perfectly.

"Let's go somewhere to eat to celebrate," Jon said to them while holding onto her hands sweetly.

"Are we going to your home again," Samantha joked, remembering how he did the same thing with her last time when she thought they were going to a restaurant?

Jon laughed, "No, I'm serious this time; I'm taking us to a nice restaurant."

"That sounds about right," Jeanette says, rubbing her stomach, expressing her hunger, "I'm hungry for some good food."

Soon the three of them left the quiet garden walking outside, towards the real, the unknown out there, whatever is waiting for them there.

But at least on their faces are happy smiles, a memory that could not be forgotten.

Some day they would look back and remember this day.

Here is the memory of their friendship and romance and the meaning they are looking for.
