When they were on the plane, he watched her as she sat watching the clouds passing by inside the plane.
The light shines on the clouds giving them a golden glow, and there's a calm and serenity to the plane's environment as a song is playing in the background in a very light way.
Seeing how she is so absorbed in watching the clouds from the plane made him smile; he likes to see her being less than that sad self who is always overthinking.
As she was still contemplating the clouds in the sky, the flight attendant politely bowed, "Sir, the plane will be landing at the airport shortly."
Hearing this, Jon nods to indicate that he has listened to the news.
Putting his attention back on her, he holds onto her hand affectionately, "You ready?"
She smiles and nods, still feeling that excitement bubbling in her heart.
When they got off the airplane, a car was waiting to pick them up and open the door to enter; before they enter, she peers at the airport area, the first scene she saw of this new city.
She would look out of the car window throughout the car ride and survey the streets with curiosity.
"Driver, find a place to park on the side," Jon said, interrupting her focus on the Paris streets.
Soon, the vehicle driver was able to find somewhere to park as he took her by the hand out to explore the city.
He was never someone who liked to plan things out for a trip, much preferring the spontaneity of exploring whatever is exploring by trying out different things and going with the flow.
Throughout the day, they explored the different stores on the street, buying freshly baked pieces of bread to eat and stopping by a tree or a bridge while having random conversations.
It was nice to stare into the distance, watch as people go about their own lives, and see the boats flowing by the river on the bridge.
As they were lying against the bridge while watching the tourists and folks going about their lives or trips, he saw that she was looking at a happy family enjoying a sunny day together.
She's looking at the kid in the middle of his parents, trying out the ice cream that his parents bought for him, with his smiling parents asking him how the ice cream tastes.
She was silently watching on the side how the mother would dotingly touch the ice cream on the cute little child's cheek.
Looking at her, Jon could see a tiny smile on her face as she looked at them reflectively as though looking at some scene from the past.
In a joking manner, Jon said to her on the side, "I can buy ice cream for you too."
Hearing those words awoke her from her contemplation, "What?! No, no. I was looking at the family. Too full, remember?"
He put his arm around her and pulled her close to him dearly, "I know you are."
She smiles at the happy family, "I was just remembering something."
At one point in her life, she sees that the kid resembles her childhood or the childhood she once had before her parents became busy with their lives and struggles.
She remembered how she was also taken out to eat by her parents, enjoying their company as they dotingly cared for her as she ate and played.
As she grew up, the once happy memories soon became a sort of low pain for her as she realized how much she desired for those memories to be relived once again.
Sometimes, a memory may be a happy memory.
Still, then when you realize that the happiness has left you, you wish that that happy memory never existed because if it never existed, at least, you wouldn't know what satisfaction is like.
Without knowing happiness, you wouldn't have been so pained every time that unsatisfied wish is brought into your mind.
But now, at least, she feels like there is somebody there for her to have hope and teach her how to hope and dream.
She's constantly feeling so lost in this world, trying to discover meaning, but now that she couldn't relive those memories, at least she had learned from him to create new memories instead.
The past is the past, unshakable and happy.
But the future is still unknown, to be created.
He had given her the hope that there are always newer experiences out there that she had never tried; even though those past experiences cannot be replaced, new experiences can be discovered.
Looking to see Jon enjoying the wind's blow rushing through the air, Samantha smiled and leaned herself close to him as he drew his arm, "Let's go; the day hasn't ended yet. Let's make it memorable."
Jon didn't say anything and carried a smile on his face but followed right with her as she dragged him to discover something new as the sun shone down on the classical street of Paris.
They walked hand in hand, exploring the streets together and lounging in the sun as they watched it set before returning to their hotel room.
After finishing getting dressed from taking her bath, she leaned her arms against the black steel bars of the balcony as she overlooked the entire city from this height.
The light in the sky has a red gleam as she watches the people still enjoying the nightlife that's about to come.
Jon wrapped himself behind her back and, with his arms tightly, hugging her waist, "Isn't it so strange that you can start the day with one expectation and end it with an entirely different view?"
She smiles in a thoughtfulness way, "More than that, it is beautiful how I start with this thinking about life, and then you came to bring me a new perspective. A more meaningful perspective to look at life instead of through those shattered lenses."
"Well, I'm glad because, without you, I would had never come to see life in this beautiful way either," Jon added in.
Holding his hand on her waist, "Thank you, because even though I'm fearful of the unknown, I've learned to trust to let myself flow whatever life will bring to me. At least, it has not disappointed me so far."
She says those last words in her heart, 'Because life has brought you into my life. Bringing me out of my gloom. Thank you.'
