New Day

When she woke up, it was already late in the afternoon, and she felt the light from the large window of the room shining through her eyes, blinding her with brilliance.

"Hello, beautiful, you woke up," she could hear a voice coming from her bed; as she looked over there, she could see Jon standing in the doorway holding a food tray.

He's wearing professional attire with a white shirt underneath; she finds him beautiful in how he smiles so elegantly when he greets her.

She was enchanted as he walked close to her, bringing the food tray to her bedside and placing it gently in front of her.

"Do you like looking at me that much," he asked her with a grin as their eyes met when he set the food down.

She said to him shyly, moistening her lips innocently, "Well, I can't help it; I was just wondering where you went so early in the morning."

"My dear lady, it is already about noon already," he told her, smiling, "if you haven't woken up by now, I would have woken you up myself."

He brushes her hair gently affectionately as he feeds her a spoonful of cooked potatoes that he carefully chopped up and a cup of squeezed orange juice that he prepared for her.

"Well, I couldn't help it," she said, giving a large stretch lazily, "sleep is so fun; it makes you forget all about the world."

He smiled hearing her say that because he had also found sleeping an ideal activity to forget about the world's busyness.

"Well, my lady, as you were sleeping and dreaming in your fairy tales, I had already contracted to have this house sold," he told her and held onto her hand sweetly, looking at her deep into the eyes with love.

"Really! Thanks!" She hugs him around the neck with a happy smile, "I knew I could depend on you!"

He smiles and finds her innocent smile quite adorable; he doesn't mind handling the rest of the world for her if that means she can keep relying on him and be her innocent self that's not tainted by the worries of adulthood.

In the past, he would stand up for her or help her out with responsibilities if that meant it would help her be away from the sadness of adulthood a little more.

In his heart, he will always see her as his princess, untainted, pure, and removed from the heaviness of the world that is part of becoming an adult.

He wanted her always to feel so light as she walks through life, as though there are wings behind her back, and to have somebody to rely on when she needs a shoulder to cry on and to catch her fall or somebody to talk to when she is feeling sad, a brother, a lover, whatever.

Forever to be the hero she needs, he will be that hero for her.

Inheriting the memories of the previous owner, he is that person, as one, with deep love.

Love means wanting what is the best for the person you love; maybe it is a bit selfish kind of love, but at least he tries to do what he knows is well based on that small broken perspective.

"My lady, you did ask me to sell the house for your yesterday," he laughed, hugging her back and smiling, "and I don't know what it is that will be store for us in the future, but I'm sure it will be a happy one."

She lets go of him and looks at him curiously, "Why do you say that?"

He looks out at the warm courtyard through the window, thinking of something deeply before saying to her, "Because it is a future with you. I don't think anything that comes our way would bring me down."

She smiles shyly, hearing his words, "You always tease me this way, but I like to think so too."

He puts his hand affectionately on her head as he whispers into her ears, "I would also never be bored because it is fun to tease you sometimes. You look so cute when you're blushing."

She punches him lightly on the arm as he looks at her adorable face and feels her silky golden hair.

He brings the cup of orange juice he made for her close to her lips and lets her drink the warm handmade juice's sweet and sour taste.

He thought to himself how beautiful she was upon seeing how her blue eyes were so fixated on his face as she drank from the cup in his hand.

He also smiled because he realized that if it weren't for those moments in the past interacting with others, when others had hurt him, and he had made many insensitive comments that struck others' hearts, he wouldn't have known how to be considerate he is now.

'Maybe it is all part of learning in life,' he thought.

When she finished eating the breakfast that Jon had prepared for her, she got dressed in some formal clothing, as Jon waited for her after putting all the things in the luggage inside a car that he parted in the yard in front of the large entrance the house.

And as she stepped down those steps of the house to where Jon's car was, she felt her footsteps a little heavy, her eyes looking down at the soil as she walked.

Upon every step she walked, she remembered all those memories as her eyes turned a little watery, knowing that her parents were gone now; she never knew as a child how she would cope upon learning one day that her parents were going from this world.

And now that she had undoubtedly experienced their departure and not just some question of boredom, she doesn't know what to do about such a huge loss.

They had filled her childhood with memories and given her their best support as parents.

Feeling all those tears bubbling out of her eyes, she saw a figure standing in front of him, warmly holding her hands.

"Jon, I can't believe they left," she told him through those tears as he helped wipe them away with a sad smile.

Looking at her, he pulled her close to his embrace, "Remember, no matter what, I will be here for you; you will never be abandoned and alone. I am here. Don't forget. I will never leave you."
