Good News

During the months that soon went by, Jon took her all over the country.

And they visited every place and tasted the different cultures there.

He helped take so many beautiful photos of them together as they saw all the scenic spots by her side.

Eventually, they settled down in a small city when Jon found out she was pregnant with his child.

Hearing that news from the doctor made Jon elated beyond description.

Julia watched as Jon smiled like a child when the doctor told them this great news at the hospital where she was staying.

They stayed in a tiny small home near the downtown area after she gifted birth to their baby.

They could rent the most luxurious homes or be in five-star hotel penthouses with their current wealth.

But Julia stated that she wanted to stay in this tiny little town in this small little city because she felt more at home.

This town doesn't have a lot of folks, but they are all lovely town folks that great welcomed them in with their community events.

Living in this town was also the first time Jon felt like he got to know his neighbors.

Maybe it was with living in large cities, but you hardly get even to know the names of the people living near your home.

When living here with her, the neighbors urged them to be part of their culture as they celebrated the different events that the community had.

And for the first time, he knew all the names of the people who lived in this town, how old their kids were, and all the random gossip.

Since they moved into the community, it has been six years, and their daughter is beginning first grade next month.

Jon still couldn't believe how fast time goes, especially being a father to a kid, and he smiles as he watches his little daughter grow older and older each year.

"Daddy, look what I found!" His daughter holds up a small piece of rock that looks like a heart sign.

Her eyes are beaming towards him, those blue eyes that resemble her mother's eyes.

Just adorably looking at him as though waiting for his praise.

"That's so beautiful! Is that a heart?" He asked, taking a closer look and squatting down so that he would match her height a little more.

As each year goes by, he finds his darling little daughter growing to look like her mother, with those eyes and that hair.

He found kids to be almost like little monsters, growing out of a pair of shoes faster than you can buy a new one.

There was a moment when she was just a baby in his arms, remembering that memory six years ago...

"Wow, she's so cute," he said as he held her in his arms, feeling how light she was. As the baby girl is wrapped inside a red blanket.

Julia smiles as she watches Jon being so involved as a father. She didn't expect him to be such a person, although she knew he loved kids.

"Now you're a father; you can't go around and play through life like before," Julia jokes with him.

Since moving into the community, he has been involved in many social events with Julia. However, now having a baby means scaling back a bit, spending more time with this bundle of joy in his arms.

"I swear upon my heart," he told her with a kind smile, "I would henceforth act according to a father's responsibility."

He was joking with her before laughing together and planting a small kiss on the baby's forehead.

At midnight they lay on the bed in the upstairs bedroom with the baby sleeping in the middle between them.

The lamp from the nightstand shone on the bed with a bit of golden light.

There's a window to this master's bedroom, and it's half-open as the sound of the summer chirps of the insects resounds outside.

"I still can't believe I'm a father now," he told her as he sang a little lullaby and watched the baby fall asleep.

He remembered his father for a moment in his original lifetime. He remembered how his father was so obsessed with the business he was creating and didn't leave any room in his heart for his family.

He sincerely hopes that he could be a good father to their daughter, at least somebody who wouldn't disappoint this girl in his arms one day.

In the past, he never thought of being a father and was quite taken aback when he heard that Julia was pregnant.

In his mind, he thought afterward that maybe this was one of the fates of destiny or why he was sent here on this planet to be with her.

This was some test for the both of them, and maybe a test for him to know what fatherhood is like, something he had always feared trying out.

"Yeah, me neither. I can't believe that this wonderful and delicate life comes from our love," she said, holding to his hand sweetly as she then looked at him warmly in the eyes, "but you can't back off now."

"I'm not backing out now," he told her, smiling a big smile on his face, "I wouldn't back out of your life or my little sweetheart's. I'm not turning back. I will love you guys till the die I die. I will protect you with all my heart."

She smiled, hearing how he pronounced himself in such a sarcastic manner, but deep inside, and she knew that he was being serious and would be there for the both of them till the end because that was how he was.

She looked down as the baby fell asleep gently and held onto his hand, "I know you will, Jon. You had been with me together all these years."

Ever since their parents died, Jon didn't give up for a day to make her smile and laugh.

When they were on the trip he always had brought her to new places that she had not been before and he would watch happily as she's enjoying herself in the world.
