Fiona opened the door to see a delivery man wearing a blue cap and a matching blue outfit with the delivery company's logo on the outfit's breast area.
"Hi, is this apartment number 3601?" The delivery man asked when taking out a large bag and handing it to Mark, who looked inside the bag with curiosity, "A client tasked me to deliver this bag of cooking material and these boxes to the client that lives here."
"Cooking materials?" Fiona asked with curiosity seeing the fresh vegetables in the bag, looking at Mark on the side, "Did you buy this?"
As they discussed the bag of fresh vegetables, Jon came out of the room, took the pen in the deliveryman's hand, and signed the paperwork for him, "Thank you so much. The items belong to me."
After getting a signature from the client, the man left, while Jon efficiently took the boxes outside to his room.
He brought the bags of food to the kitchen, "Well, today I'll cook you guys a nice meal as a thank you for welcoming you into this apartment."
"Dude, you know how to cook too," Mark asked with suspicion because he doesn't know a lot of good cooks friends.
But oh well, it is free food, why say no. As long as the meal doesn't taste too horrible, it is better than paying for food outside or cooking tonight.
"By the time Jorge and Jessica arrive, you guys should be able to taste my cooking," Jon said as he took a large knife and started chopping the vegetables that he took from the bag sitting on the counter. "You guys can just sit and wait; I'll be done quickly."
Christina arrived in the kitchen and sat next to Fiona and Mark on the living room couch while watching with fascination as Jon was focused on crafting the meal in the kitchen.
In her heart, she finds herself more and more attracted to him, the way he seems to be dancing in the kitchen.
Not literally dancing, but his movements are so fast that they can only see the after movements of the knife as pieces of the vegetable fall, and a little mini-sculpture starts to appear.
"He knows martial arts?" Fiona asked, with her fingers itching for a fight with Jon seeing how much of an expert he is with the knife he is holding closely in his hand.
"Wow, if only Jon is a girl, I would marry him," Mark said with his hands together like a prayer as he watched Jon use the spices.
Hearing Mark say this, both girls looked at him strangely with eyes that speak about how weird it is to hear this from his mouth, "What?! I was only saying 'if,' okay? It is not like I'm going to do that."
Christina shakes her head in resignation, seeing how weird her friends are acting all the time; a part of her is already used to seeing them like this.
But she has to admit, Jon does look handsome when he is so focused like that, with his attention absorbed upon cooking the food.
Fiona taps her by the arm lightly, subtly taking her attention away to the present, "Hey, where did you find that hottie anyways?"
Fiona and Mark looked at Christina with curiosity as they awaited her to answer.
"Oh, I met him today at the bar," Christina said, recounting their story about how he met Jon today, their encounter, and the details.
Mark puts his fingers on his chin as though in the thought of something profound, "I didn't know that such a lame pickup line would work out so well. Maybe I should introduce this line to my radio audience tonight."
"I look down at you," Fiona said with her eyes squinted while gazing at Mark with that unmistakable air of annoyance.
Fiona gives a small pat on Christina's shoulders, "Don't worry; I won't compete with you. I already have my boyfriend, Shawn. But you better hurry up; you never know when another girl will come along and snatch this Mr. Right away from you."
"I know. I know." Christina said with a happy smile as she saw Jon putting plate after plate of food on the table and smiling at her warmly when he noticed her looking in his direction.
"Talking about that, how is it going between you and Shawn? I haven't seen him with you this week," Christina asked after being reminded of Fiona's guy currently dating.
Fiona answers, taking her flip phone out as though waiting for a message, "You know, he is the director of his company; he told me he would be busy with a meeting this week. But we will have dinner together next Friday."
As they were discussing, the door to the apartment opened, and a couple holding hands came into the living room.
"You two must be Jorge and Jessica," Jon put down the last plate of food on the table in the kitchen and came to greet them and introduce himself.
"Jorge and Jessica, this is Jon, our apartment's newest roommate," Christina stood up from the couch.
The two chat, "So you guys are the neighbors for the apartment 3602 next door?"
Jessica looked at her fiance, holding to his hand with affection in her eyes, "Yeah, but we are going to be moving out after our wedding. I will miss this place so much. It is here that I met the love of my life."
"Don't say that; we can always come back here anytime we want to be like the old times," Jorge said while putting his hand on top of hers with similar affection in his eyes.
Seeing the happy couple, Jorge smiled; it reminded him of his past time when he was with the people he deeply loved in the other stories.
"That's right, Jessica," Fiona joined in, "Jorge is right, you can always come back any time you want, and we go out shopping and watching movies late into the night."
