Danica's POV
Dean came back with the new formula tub in hand. He grinned and looked around as I boiled the kettle and Jenny sat holding Maggy. I took the tub from him and frowned.
"This didn't come from the pack house…" He shook his head.
"They didn't have any there. But my sister, Jewels, had some and she gave me this tub. She also said it's much better for young children with tummy problems." I nodded and quickly made up a bottle then tested the temperature before handing it to Jenny. She slipped it into Maggy's mouth with a sigh. Maggy tried to force the bottle away her little hands pushing at Jenny's fingers then she stopped. Slowly she began to take the milk then settled and ate ravenously. I nodded my head.
"I'll go and get her some food from downstairs." I left and quickly made a plate of soft foods. I put chicken in the blender with a little tomato sauce and potatoes then blitzed it. I scooped out some of the mix onto a tiny plate and went back upstairs. After Maggy had finished her bottle she took most of the food on the plate too. She looked around and reached out to me. Jenny smiled.
"That's four out of four." I frowned as she placed Maggy on my lap.
"What does that mean?" She smirked.
"The kids seem to like you a lot." I rolled my eyes as Maggy began to nod off her eyes looking heavy.
"It seems she needs to go to bed too." Jenny nodded and pulled open a bag.
"I'll set up the travel cot…" She smirked. "You know Kaden and Aden have been talking to me about you every time I see them." I rolled my eyes and saw Dean frown as he wrestled with the second cot.
"Is it the same thing they said to Mathew?" She giggled and nodded then placed the little mat into the bottom of the cot.
"Yeah," She looked to Dean. "Sorry but the boys want Danica to be there mother. They might try and convince you as well." He raised an eyebrow but kept his mouth shut as he finished making the cot up and put the blankets inside.
As soon as Jenny got the sheets in the cot, I placed Maggy into the bed. Without any protest she was asleep even before we could put the blanket over her. Quickly Jenny placed Lilly into the cot Dean had made up. I looked to the two sleeping kids in my room and sighed.
"Let's just set up this child radio thing and join the party." Jenny nodded and set up the baby monitor as I took the shoes off Lilly and covered her with the blanket.
"All done. If they make a peep we'll know." I nodded and we left the room to re-join the party.
Downstairs the music had returned to a more acceptable genre and people were beginning to gather outside as the Lamb was ready. I saw Derick making his way towards us a tray in each hand.
"Where are the girls?" Jenny placed a hand on his shoulder and smirked.
"Take it easy. They're both sound asleep upstairs and I have the baby monitor. You go and have fun and don't worry about the rest." He frowned and slipped the dessert trays onto the kitchen island.
"They're asleep? Already?" Dean nodded and placed a hand around my shoulders.
"Soundly. They went out like lights." Derick nodded and looked to the stairs.
"No you don't Alpha man." Mathew appeared out of nowhere and placed another two trays down then grabbed Derick. "We're going out there onto the deck and we're having some of that meat. The smell alone is driving me crazy! Then we'll all eat the desserts." He pulled Derick out.
I shook my head then spotted the twins as they barreled over to me. They had been outside almost all afternoon while Lisa had been here. I looked around and frowned.
"Is that Lisa away now?" Jenny nodded and grabbed the boys sending them back outside.
"Yeah, she couldn't stay long this time either. God she's such a downer. She didn't say a nice thing this entire night." I nodded.
"She's hiding something." Jenny looked at me and frowned.
"How could you tell?" I shrugged.
"Just little things. She might be more trouble than she's worth. And she's started fighting in the plaza this year." Kaden looked up as he struggled against Jenny.
"She fights at the Plaza? does that mean she… really is the Banshee?" I shook my head and frowned.
"The Banshee has been fighting for five years. She's only been fighting for one." Jenny waved us quiet then motioned for us to come outside and grabbed a plate each.
"Well, let's not dwell on her tonight. I want some of this." She grinned and we each took a flatbread, the boys copying everything I did. If I piled salad stuffs and salsas on my bread they did too. Then we reached the main event.
Kelly had already started to break down the meat. She had pulled large chunks of lamb off the bone and had various cuts set aside. Jenny and I however went straight for the juicy belly meat that had been pulled and tossed with spices to make a Mexican styled spice lamb. We both piled it onto the flatbreads with all the other ingredients and grinned. I checked with the boys if they liked the spicy lamb, after they tasted a little bit they both then nodded.
We sat at a table and rolled our flat breads up as Derick and Mathew joined us. I looked to the mountain of meat piled on their plates and the token salad at the side. Jenny shook her head.
"You need to eat more vegetables." Mathew whined as he sat.
"But tonight's a special night." He moaned then staired at the boys plates. "They seem to have been infected with the salad bug." Derick frowned and looked to what the boys had chosen then to me and Jenny.
"You two have cast some sort of spell on them…." He watched as Aden rolled the large flat bread around the mass of ingredients and began to munch down.
"It's good." Kaden managed through a mouthful of food and Aden nodded then wiped the juices that dripped down his face.
"I want another one…" He grinned and Derick shook his head.
"Finish what's on your plate first little man." I shook my head and began to eat as we fell into gossip and random conversation.
Derick's POV
I had sat at the table Mathew led me to, to find that the boys were already sitting there one on each side of Danica. I couldn't believe how easy it was for the ladies to get the boys to eat their salads, or how much they were eating.
Danica got up to go to the bathroom and I found my eyes were lingering on her until she rounded the corner. A small hand patted my arm and I looked down to Aden as he grinned up at me.
"I knew you'd like Danica." I saw Mathew begin to grin evilly as he sat next to Jenny. Instantly my mind began to race. Something was up or was going to happen.
"Oh, why's that?" He smiled.
"Because we like her." Kaden joined in. "She like to play, so we told her you like games too." I heard what sounded like a strangled sneeze coming from Mathew and Jenny smirked as they mind linked each other.
"Is that so…" I glared at Mathew.
'You better fill me in on what's so dam funny' He shook his head.
'It's coming.' He shot me another glance.
"You should make Danica our new mother." I choked on my beer and looked to the two little faces that grinned at me.
'There it is!' Mathew hid his face in his hands as I shook my head.
"I already have a girlfriend." Aden made a show of looking around.
"Where?" I gave him a frown.
'Where the hell did all this attitude come from?' I glared at Mathew but he was useless.
"She had to leave to look after her grandfather." He narrowed his eyes at me.
"I don't believe an Alpha can be that sick for so long. Someone would have taken over his pack by now." I opened my mouth, but Kaden got there first.
"Besides, you get along better with Danica and aren't all scary like you are when Lisa is here." I blinked in confusion.
"I don't get all scary." Mathew nodded.
"You go nuts. Locked away all day and your judgement goes right out the window." I frowned.
"Well, it takes two to make that kind of decision and I have Lisa…" I stood up and cleared the table taking the paper plates to the bin then wandered to the front and took a seat on the doorstep. It wasn't long before I heard a squeak of a chair and I looked back.
Grandmother was there a small smile on her lips as she stretched. She gave me a look as she positioned her chair on the step.
"Tonight went well after Lisa left." She looked down at me from the chair. "You get on better with the pack when Lisa isn't around." I sighed and rubbed my neck. "You also looked happy when talking to Danica." I frowned.
"I'm happy." She gave me a look.
"Who're you trying to convince? Me or you." I hesitated at her words and she hid a yawn behind her hand. "I think I'm done for the night. Are you still alright to drive or should I call for one of the Omegas?" I stood.
"I'm fine to drive." She nodded and I lifted her and the chair up and took her to the car.
We drove to the pack house. The feeling in the car was suspiciously quiet, like she was wanting to say something but was holding back.
"What?" I asked finally and she smirked.
"You know Danica is really good with the kids." She gave me a look as I pulled into the driveway. "I mean one would think she has known them all their lives with the way they have opened up to her. I mean Lilly would not let her go for most of the night." I nodded as I came to a stop.
"She certainly has made an impression on them… especially Aden." She nodded and patted my hand.
"I would really think things over. One woman will lead to disaster while the other…" She grinned and I nodded.
"I know but…" I didn't know how to finish that sentence. My mind was in turmoil and my wolf was like a stranger again.
"Are you all right?" I nodded then shook my head.
"I'll be alright after some sleep." She opened her door as two Omegas came out of the pack house and took her chair from the back.
"Take care." She was lifted from the car. "And goodnight." I watched as she left.
