Chapter 63

Danica's POV

I heard the knock on my door and as expected Jenny was there and unfortunately the Alpha was too. He seemed distracted as his gaze was all over the place. As I went in for a hug with Jenny, I noticed something. There was a definite change in her scent. Last night I thought I had smelt something different about her but there was too many people and we never got too close. I rushed through getting the coffees done and watched as she chose a seat away from the food and by a window.

"I'm pregnant." Finally, the words I was hoping she would say came out of her mouth and I let an excited squeal leave my lips.

"That's awesome news, I know you and Mathew have been trying for a while." She smiled happy.

"I know and I still can't believe it." she took hold of the coffee mug and looked around. "Don't tell Mathew before I do." I nodded and crossed my heart and Derik nodded.

"Wouldn't dream of it." He blurted out "And congratulations. How long?" Jenny shrugged.

"About eight weeks… I found out a little while ago but all that drama with the company got in the way… Is it that noticeable?" Derick shook his head.

"I had no idea." I nodded slightly.

"Only if someone knew you well. I can smell the difference." She nodded.

"I think Richard, the doctor, knows." Derick nodded.

"He's the head doctor so he deals with most of the pregnancies in the pack. Especially the first-time pregnancies." He tickled Maggy's stomach and she looked distressed and pushed his hand away. "He delivered this one." I watched as he moved his hand closer to Maggy and she seemed ready to start crying.

"Don't tickle her like that." I saw the look Jenny gave me then saw Derick shift slightly looking annoyed and confused. "Her stomach is still a little tender from whatever crap was put in her formula. It might take a few weeks for her to be fully recovered." I felt the tense feelings fade and he nodded then tickled her under the chin. Maggy giggled and grabbed his fingers then began to suck and chew on his thumb. "See, no tears." He nodded.

"She seems so much better already." I nodded and went to the fridge and pulled out a little plate. I put it in front of him and handed him her little pink spoon.

"Here, she likes the cold on her gums where the last few teeth are coming through." He took the spoon and his hand grazed over my skin. Something about the way he touched me sent shivers down my spine and I pulled my hand away.

"I'll take Lilly so you can feed Maggy." He snapped out of his trance and shifted Lilly so I could take her. She gave me a big grin then her head went back to the food, and she reached out. I handed Lilly to Jenny at the other side of the table. She seemed to be grinning like the cat that got the cream.

Quickly I went to the oven and pulled it open then took out the tray of rolls and placed it onto a cooling rake. I tore one roll open and placed some cold cheese and ham inside.

"Will you be ok if Lilly eats this?" Jenny shrugged slightly but I didn't want to risk it. I placed the roll to the tabletop and took Lilly. As she sat on my knee her hands grabbed the roll I had prepared for her. As she began to munch on the roll I turned my attention back to Jenny. "So what are you planning to do now? Are you going to stay in the pack house or get a place close by?" She shrugged.

"I haven't thought about any of that yet." She frowned then pointed. "What are you doing with your bag?" I shrugged.

"I was planning to go back to the city and attend my afternoon class, do some accounting for Rodger then swing by my apartment and get a few things." I shrugged. "Well, I'll probably stay the night there as I have another class first thing, then another after lunch." Jenny seemed annoyed.

"Can't you do your classes online? I mean… I don't feel comfortable about you going back especially with the hunter situation." Derick seemed startled.

"Are there still hunters in the city?" He looked around from feeding Maggy and Jenny sighed.

"I don't know. But I don't want to find out the hard way." Derick nodded.

"I'll look into it…" He frowned. "Do you want to take some of the warriors with you?" I shook my head.

"No, I'll be on my home turf and the Watchdogs now know hunters are in the area so I'll be safe." He saw the look Jenny was giving me.

"You should take two." I shook my head again.

"I don't need two and besides they won't be able to go into the Uni and if someone like me starts walking around with bodyguards it'll just cause a commotion." I could see he wasn't happy about the idea of me going alone either. "Don't start. I can look after myself. I've done it for years and have been successful." He nodded but didn't seem convinced.

"When you come back you should attend the training." I nodded but Jenny seemed to be annoyed.

"Why do you want Danica to attend training?" He put the last scoop of food onto the little spoon.

"Because of what happened with the boys. I want to make sure everyone can protect themselves." I nodded and saw the look on Jenny's face. She was not happy with this idea.

"I'll be alright, it sounds like fun." She rolled her eyes.

"Fine but you're my partner." I frowned.

"Not in your current state." She rolled her eyes.

"I'm pregnant not an invalid." I nodded.

"Exactly, I wouldn't know how to fight you without causing harm to the baby. My teachers at the dojo even say I hit like a mule." I heard Derick chuckle.

"Then I should train you." I thought for a moment. Fighting against and alpha even if it was just for training would improve my performance as the Banshee. Jenny shook her head.

"Definitely not. You'll kill her without even realizing it." I sighed. As much as I loved Jenny she was a real pain in the neck when it came to protecting me, but that's what happens when you don't have a wolf.

The morning wore on and we argued a lot more how my training would go but eventually it was time for me to leave. I put on my leathers then came downstairs. Derick's face lit up when he saw me then a frown crossed his face. I knew another lecture was coming my way.

"Motorbikes are dangerous. Crashes on them have killed many a werewolf." I nodded.

"Yeah, but this is my Baby, I'm not going to give her up. Not for all the gold in China." He seemed annoyed.

"But what if something happens to you?" I shrugged.

"What if nothing happens?" I frowned. "I can't live my life fearing what might happen. I'd never get anything done." Jenny sighed.

"It's no good Derick. I've tried to get her to stop riding her bike, but it would be easier digging up the roads instead." He sighed as I walked into the garage.

"At least she has the right gear on…"

"I heard that! Stop parenting me!" He smirked.

"Is she always so argumentative? It's all we seem to be doing all morning." Jenny nodded and giggled.

"You'll get used to it." I listened to them for a few moments more, then turned the engine on before opening the garage door wide. I pushed Molly out into the light and closed the garage door. Jenny stood on the front doorstep with Maggy in her arms.

"Just be careful." I saw Derick staring at Molly and I knew he liked her, he just wouldn't admit it.

"Always." Jenny locked up and brought Maggy to the car as Derick followed like a ghost carrying the baby stuff left with Maggy and holding Lilly's hand as she tried to run towards me.

I gathered my hair and put on my helmet then swung my leg over the seat. With a final flick as I put on my sunglasses I headed out.
