Chapter 86

Dean nodded and held up his phone as we gathered around, he was on a sight I had never seen before and seemed to need a BioScan card to enter. The top of the news page read 'Were-central'. I frowned this seemed to be another were-folk thing I was not aware of.

"The attack kind'a looks like the animal attacks out near the Blue moon Canyons we've been seeing out on patrol." I frowned.

"What? there has been more attacks. Why hasn't there been any news?" Dean sighed.

"I don't know. The attacks are all on the were-central pages." I gave him a glare.

"And how do you get on to them?" He took a breath then stopped a thought crossing throw his head.

"Oh..." He scratched the back of his neck. "When you first turn you are given a bio card by the council." I nodded.

"I never got one." Mathew sighed.

"I suppose you were never registered." I looked to him and he gave me a funny look. "Your mother was young. She probably didn't know she needed to register you as born of werewolf and so you were only ever seen as human on paper." he held up his hands. "But I'll fix that for you once I get back to the pack." I sighed and gave them an annoyed look.

"But what about these animal attacks?" Mathew crossed his arms and gave a childish expression.

"Since that delightful talk with Rodger, we've been keeping an eye on everything that has been happening out towards the canyons. We've come across mutilated bodies of animals and a few homeless Wilderman. And they all have the most bizarre scents on them... The rangers have to report them as animal attacks and have told us about the increase in these attacks... and now they're in the city." Dean nodded.

"That means whoever or whatever is here now." Aden and Kaden grabbed my hands.

"Does it have something to do with the hunters?" I shook my head.

"Not likely. Hunters would come after it…" I looked to Mathew. "That means there will be more hunters coming to the city." His face fell and he mind linked. I sighed. "But we're safe in here." The boys nodded and squeezed my hands. I took the opportunity to tell them what Rodger had said about rogoue hunters attacking the boys. Mathew's face darkened.

"The one's that came after the boys in the mall..." I nodded. "Derick was looking into that but got nowhere. There was nothing on the general notice boards about active hunters in the area They are all meant to banned for the month." I nodded.

"Worst part they seem to be working for or at least with Vox." they nodded slowly and shared a look.

Derick and Lisa approached us at a quick pace, Derick looking rather pissed as he waved a hand at us.

"Why did you disappear like that?" Mathew shrugged.

"You should keep an eye open… especially now." He pulled Derick away to fill him in on the details and left Lisa with us. She sucked at her lip in annoyance and crossed her arms then looked to Dean and frowned.

"What are you looking at? Have you never seen mates before?" He snorted.

"I've seen quite a lot of mated were-creatures. But none act like you do in public." It was her turn to snort as she rolled her eyes at him.

"At least I'm not desperate for a marked whore." He snarled and Aden looked at me.

"You've been marked?" He pulled at my t-shirt.

"No, I'm not marked." I pulled the collar down and showed off my neck and collar bones. "See." They nodded and sighed. But Lisa frowned.

"Still, you've been playing around with a lot of men. How whorish can you get? Especially for a no pack nobody." I shrugged.

"I don't provide the immediate area around me with live porn. I keep it behind closed doors. I also don't pretend to be someone I'm not." She narrowed her eyes.

"You bitch!" Derick and Mathew returned.

"What's going on?" Derick looked between the two of us and Lisa pointed.

"She's calling me a whore and disrespecting me!" I rolled my eyes.

"Please. You accused me of being marked and from the second you opened your mouth and have been trying to slut shame me. I behave myself in public and conduct myself in a manner that represents who I am." I shrugged. "You on the other hand act like a dog in heat. I don't think I can show myself in that restaurant after the way the pair of you were behaving." Mathew grinned as he pulled the boys away and indicated for them to be quiet.

"You're having a go at me now?" Derick narrowed his eyes.

"Come on. Your meant to be a leader not a horny teenager getting to second and third base in a restaurant in front of your kids." He opened his mouth. "Shut up." His mouth snapped shut. "Furthermore, you were so busy getting some booty you didn't notice you were left behind, twice. We moved booths then left the restaurant. You of all people should know that letting your guard down like that is dangerous especially since this stuff just came out." I pointed to the phones and the new still visible on the screen. "I get this bond thing is strong but pull your head out of her pants and keep it behind closed doors." Derick growled

"I… it… It wasn't third base." He managed and I rolled my eyes.

"I can smell where those fingers of yours have been from here." Lisa opened her mouth and I rounded on her. "Keep it shut or I'll shut it." I commanded and she shuddered and looked to Derick with a pout.

"Look…" I waved my hand.

"No." He stared seemingly startled as everyone else took a step back. "You listen man child." I stabbed my finger onto his chest and pressed as he stiffened. "You're a father and leader first. I expected more from you, I heard a lot of good things about you, but it seems like I was given the wrong information. All you seem to care about is chasing a childish, selfish, treacherous bitch that has done nothing but cause you trouble." I let my hand fall as I gave him my best disappointed look and he seemed to buckle under the pressure.

Mathew cleared his throat and waved the boys to Dean. He looked around as a few were-folk began to gather and watch. The air was growing electric and a strong pressure was building.

"Let's calm down and get this stuff to the car. I know an ice cream place nearby." I turned and locked my gaze to Mathew and he shuddered.

"I'll meet you at the ice cream shop." He nodded and shuddered again as I left. Dean and the boys chasing after me.

Derick's POV

'What the fuck came over me?' I looked to Lisa who seemed visibly shaken. I placed an arm around her the sparks faintly tingling over my skin. Slowly I looked around as the crowd was dispersing and I looked to Mathew he too seemed surprised and confused. Thinking on what Danica had said I clenched my jaw. She had been right. I had let my guard down and could have paid the price for it. 'Why was I so stupid?' I looked to Mathew. 'He and Jenny don't act like animals in public.'

"Can I get the keys?" Mathew held out his shacking hand. "I'll take this stuff to the car…" I nodded and pulled the keys from my pocket.

"Yeah…" I managed sounding like a boy who had just been scolded by his mother. Mathew made his retreat.

Suddenly I looked around and felt my heart drop. With a growl I closed my eyes and shook my head.

"Fuck." Lisa looked at me.

"What's wrong babe?" I waved a hand.

"The boys are gone again… and not with Mathew." She looked around and growled.

"I don't like her babe. Are you sure you should let such a tramp like her into the pack?" I hesitated as I rubbed the spot she had touched, the sparks had almost knocked me off my feet and that look of disappointment she gave me nearly broke Murphy in two. I sighed and nodded.

"She saved the boys and I made a promise to Jenny." Lisa rolled her eyes.

"Why is Jenny so important? I mean she came from another pack." I sighed.

"She's originally from my pack and has been helping with the business. I also owe her a great deal." Lisa looked to her nails.

"So, can't you just say thanks or is this something bigger than a thank you?" I walked to a bench and sat pulling Lisa beside me.

"Jenny saved my life when I was twenty…" She looked at me. "There was a rogue attack that overpowered my patrol unit. She managed to force her transformation at fifteen and fight off the rogue wolfs then managed to alert the pack." I sighed. "She took a beating for it, but her intelligence was what made her a terror on the battle field." Lisa frowned.

"And she's a good friend of Danica's?" I nodded.

"Like sisters." She frowned and placed her head to my chest.

"But you're the Alpha. what you say goes." I nodded but my thoughts were wondering.

Mathew's POV

I got back to the car and threw the bags into the bag before climbing into the back seats. With a shacking breath I began to hyperventilate and shiver uncontrollably as my wolf whined and retreated into the depths of my mind.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck..." I muttered and grabbed my hair. Why was I so terrified? Why did I suddenly feel like I wanted to fight my Alpha? Where the hell did this new dominance come from. "Not good..." I pulled my phone out and called Jenny.

"Hi Cutie, what are you doing calling me? You're meant to be having a boy's day out." I sighed as I could feel the calming effects of her voice rolling over me and soothing my nerves.

"I..." I thought better of telling her the truth. "I missed you... I got all the stuff you wanted." Her giggle on the other end was like a waterfall of bliss pouring into my ear.

"Good, are you having fun?" I nodded and slowly began to settle.

"Yeah, right up until Danica and Derick had a fight." I recalled what had happened but left out the strange aura and my panic attack.
