Mathew's POV
I watched. Something had freaked the doctor out and he was rather skittish. Slowly I reached out and patted his shoulder. In an explosion of limbs and chair the man jumped with a yelp and hit the floor. I looked down as he glanced up his face far paler than I had seen.
"Are you all right?" I offered him my hand and pulled him to his feet then retrieved his seat again.
"Yes…" He squeaked. "Let's just get this show on the road." I watched as he flicked the switches and turned on the intercom. "Alpha, I'm going to let some scents into the room and sounds. Just sit back relax and let yourself and your wolf react to them." He nodded and Richard played the first sound. It was a recording of rain and the scent of water flowed into the room around me.
I turned and saw what looked like rain drip in a little glass box next to us and wandered over.
"What's this?" Richard shrugged.
"How else am I going to make the smell of rain." He pressed another button and a tray of moss with a few bits of wood and leaves ran under the rain in the box and stopped.
"What's he smelling now?"
"Rain in a forest… it's not exact but its enough to get a reaction from his wolf…" I nodded and watched as more things drifted through the box.
Derick sighed and looked to us through the window. It had been thirty minutes already and he looked like he was about to fall asleep. He crossed his arms and licked at his lips.
"How much longer?" I looked to Richard as he grabbed the microphone.
"I have your base line established and I can say you're reacting like a normal werewolf… We just need Lisa to come in now." I grinned and saw the door to the empty side of the exam room open and Lisa was shown in by a nurse. She looked pissed as she could not see Derick.
"What the fuck?" She asked and I giggled as something rippled over the screen as Derick reacted to her voice. Richard let a confused sound leave his lips.
"Please take a seat." Richard went through and held up the hood as she sat down. She gave him a long look then pushed the hood away.
"It's not my brain that's acting up." He nodded slowly.
"But…" She snapped around.
"I'm not wearing that ugly thing. Besides, I have injuries I need to take care of." Richard sighed.
"I can book you in and suggest treatment for your…" She shot him a murderous glare.
"Hurry up!" Richard returned to the office. With a flick he opened the first screen and she could see Derick. With a sigh she crossed her arms as Richard nodded and staired at the screen.
"How odd…" He muttered then opened the second screen and a fan turned on. "Very odd…" He tuned the intercom back on. "Lisa if you will, can you go over and touch Derick…" She stood up with a wince and slowly hobbled over placing her hands to his chest then sat on his lap.
The screen lit up and flashed in a strange way like when Dean saw Bella. I bit my lip and cursed fearing the worst.
"Something isn't right here…" Richard muttered as he made sure the intercom was off.
"Please tell me she isn't his mate." I begged and Richard shrugged.
"I was going to say there was no way she was. He hates her voice, has little reaction to her looks and has no reaction at all to her scent… but..."
"Oh, I hate when people add a but to things…" I shook my head. "What's this but all about?" Richard cleared his throat.
"He has an unbelievably strong reaction to her touch. It's like his brain is almost on fire." I sighed.
"So, this would explain why he turns into an idiot when she's around?" Richard nodded.
"Oh yes… I'm surprised he can do anything in this state. If he'd been a lesser wolf his brain might have actually melted…" I frowned.
"So this is a bad thing? Hang on are they mates or not?" Richard looked at the screen and sighed.
"I don't know. It's not a healthy relationship either way." The screen suddenly went blank. We both looked up to see Lisa dropping the hood and standing up. "We're not yet finished…" I tried to protest but she had already got Derick up and out of the room. I rubbed my head.
"I was hoping Danica was still here but at least we got one done." Richard nodded and looked through the recording again.
"This is so odd… I'll look over it…" He gave me a look. "Would you be able to convince Jenny to come here… for a comparison." I nodded and mind linked to Jenny.
"She's on her way." He nodded and gave me another glance.
"While we wait can I get a base line from you?" I whined.
"Is it necessary?" He nodded.
"You're his brother so I can compare his reaction to you. Think of it this way, you're the healthy one." I nodded and wandered into the room Derick had been in and grabbed the hood.
"Fine…" He untangled the mess Lisa had left the hood in and slipped it onto my head.
Jenny's POV
I arrived at the hospital and entered the lab. Richard was already there giving me a warm smile. He waved a hand to the chair and I sat.
"Thank you." I nodded.
"What's this all about?" He sighed.
"I need Mathew's reaction to you as a base line to help Derick." She nodded as I finished with the hood.
"My mate actually has a brain?" He smirked.
"Surprising I know. And It's a rather healthy one too." I smiled and looked to the screen as Richard returned to his office.
As the first screen slid open I waved to Mathew and he grinned waving back a coy smile on his face. The second screen slid up and a fan turned on. I could smell his sent wafting to me and my heartbeat began to hasten slightly.
Mathew was on his feet almost instantly as he came towards me. I stood and he wrapped his arms around me his lips locking to mine. I felt the sparks tingle over me and I settled into his arms.
"Thank you. That's all I need to see." I pulled away but Mathew let a whimper leave his lips as he kept coming forward.
"You smell particularly nice today." He whispered as he began to nuzzle into my neck. I smirked and looked to the window.
"That's because…" I pressed my lips to his ear. "I'm pregnant."
Richard's POV
I had been looking to the screens and was reaching to the monitor to stop recording when suddenly Mathew's screen exploded in a fit of colours that rocketed around and I gasped.
"What the hell happened?" I looked up to see Mathew on his knees his face buried into Jenny's stomach. She smiled at me.
"I told him I was Pregnant." I nodded.
"That explains what I've just seen…" I gave a relieved sigh. "For a moment I thought he was having a seizure."
