Chapter 108

Danica's POV

I was laying on my stomach on the bed feeling the same strange pressure in my lower body as Oscar slept. Roe had a strong hold of me both with his arms and jaws and had gone wild with delight as soon as I had given them the go ahead. I winced slightly and pulled one of his claws out of my side. His fur really was silky smooth.

'Can't believe I let a male do this again…' I winced but the weight on top of me pressed me to the bed and I couldn't move. Shortly after Oscar and Roe had finished they fell asleep, I was on the verge of sleep myself but something had caught my attention. A presence other than those I knew had been outside, near to my cabin but not right outside. If I was to guess it was a few doors down. This stranger seemed strong and dangerous and the faint sounds of a struggle had reached me. But now all was quiet. I kept myself on alert my phone in my hand just encase I needed to call someone.

The faint sound of gravel caught my attention and the feeling of this stranger drew closer. It was a male and he was right outside my door. A few unsettling minutes ticked by as the silence pressed in.

I let a relieved sigh out as the man began to leave and the watchful feeling vanished. Something had been very wrong and, in this position, I was a sitting duck.

'I guess there are dangers even with a pack too.' I made note of the time and texted Jenny.

Bella's POV

I woke. Something startled me. I placed my hand to my chest and sniffed. Oscars scent was so intense I could smell it in my room. Even Dean seemed shaken as he sat up and looked to me.

"What happened? Why did you wake?" I shook my head.

"It was like my Alpha called to me to wake…" With a jump I had gone to the door.

"You don't have an Alpha… Do you?" I shot Dean a glare.

"Either go back to sleep or get up. I need to check on Danica and the house." He nodded and got up reluctantly. "You go downstairs and check the house." I ran to Danica's room as he padded towards the stairs and went down.

"I'll need an explanation later." I nodded but turned to the door and knocked softly.

"Danica, are you awake?" I heard a movement from inside.

"Yes."

"Can I come in?"

"Might not be that wise, but sure." I nodded at her response and opened the door then gasped at the sight.

"Wow…" She looked to me then pulled my eyes away back to the window.

"Someone was outside." She nodded.

"I know… sort of. You sent out a danger call." She frowned.

"What?" I shrugged and moved my eyes to the window.

"It's when a pack member sends out a warning to other pack members to be on alert. The stronger the pack member giving the warning the more alert the pack become…" She frowned.

"When were we in a pack." I shrugged.

"To be honest I have no clue. This is the first time I've felt anything like this coming from you. Only my father, mother and master have ever been able to send such messages." She nodded.

A noise by the door made us turn and Dean stood his face a mix of disbelieve and confusion. I could see the wolf in his eyes burning forward. He placed a hand to my shoulder and licked his lips. I frowned and looked at the way Oscar's head was positioned. Was he biting her?

"Danica, are you ok?" I nodded.

"Yes… He's asleep now so there's no pressure." Dean patted my arm and I looked to him his unasked question on the tip of his tongue as he licked his lips.

"Was anything out of order downstairs?" He shook his head.

"I couldn't smell anyone." He was way too distracted and I pulled him away.

"If anything comes up let me know." Danica nodded and I led the way back to our room.

"Can we do that?" I felt a shudder run down my back. Once we were inside the bedroom I closed the door and sighed feeling Deans fingers tickle down my back.

"Fine… but…" I never got the words out as Dean was already on me. I struggled to get to the bed as Dean transformed. With a slap to his face he backed up slightly and I pulled myself onto the bed. "Give me time to get ready dam it!" He whimpered and I could see his enthusiasm between his legs. I leant on the foot of the bed as he came close again.

Richard's POV

I was sitting in the clinic with a dark expression as I examined Derick's results. With nothing scheduled for the day I had eaten lunch in the little cafeteria than really hit the books. His mate bond with Lisa was like nothing I had ever seen before, and it was surprisingly destructive.

The landline rang as the reception staff transferred a call to me. Sluggishly I reached forward and picked it up.

"Doctor Richard Gav…"

"Hi Rich, It's me Kess." I smiled and leant back in the chair.

"Awesome timing. I was just thinking about calling you in regards to the samples I sent. You know the baby formula." She clicked her tongue.

"Exactly why I'm calling you. Look this stuff in the formula has been identified and it is nasty as fuck." I nodded as she continued. "It's a form of mutated wolfsbane or nightshade. Basically, it's a hybrid of the two, a specially manufactured chimera. It is designed to kill werewolf if ingested, but luckily for you this batch wasn't… perfected." I snorted.

"What do you mean?" She sighed.

"I mean there are stronger forms of this stuff available now, but this is all very new shit. If someone has access to that less effective form then they could either be the ones manufacturing it or they know who is and can get a hold of the stronger stuff." I stiffened at her words.

"Which means if poison ends up in the formula again… It'll kill…"

"Yes, I'd be very careful around there. The only good bit of news I can give you is its not cheep or common and it does not have a long shelf life. The person using it would need to get new supplies every month and have deep pockets." I nodded.

"I'll pass this along to my Alpha."

"Keep safe Rich, and don't be a stranger you hear me?" I smirked.

"Loud and clear." She hung up and I mind linked Mathew directly.
