Chapter 111

I couldn't focus on class, I was getting ready to go to training while the others had gone on ahead to get the girls set up at the sideline. Even Bella had gone because she was Dean's mate and wanted to ask about joining the pack.

I looked nervously at my watch it was ten to three. Slowly I looked to my lecturer as he stood facing the class. I was on Zoom with six other students and could hear the class as they spoke. My hand slipped into my pencil case and I found a plastic bag. I frowned and pulled out the little bag containing Jessica's ring.

'Dam. I'll have to bring this to Derick at training.' I looked back to the screen and put my pen away.

Mathew's POV

I had introduced Bella and Oscar to the pack and let a few of the warriors get Oscar ready for the training. It had been surprisingly easy and no one questioned me about the stranger in our mix. Maybe it was because they were already beginning to turn away from Derick and wanted me as Alpha. This would be bad. If they did abandon Derick and push me into the roll of Alpha I'd have to do something I didn't even want to think about.

After Oscar was out of my hair, I had dragged Derick out of his room telling him he needed to train his lazy arse. I had to infuriate him by telling him that he was as weak as a Beta and I'd fuck him up if he didn't go downstairs. As Lisa protested, she didn't get to see him much, I unleashed my ultimate emotional blackmail card. Using my concern for the future Luna I reminded her and Derick that she needed to attend training everyday especially since someone had already targeted her and she needed to know how to protect herself to avoid the same fate as Jessica. I also mentioned how packs respond to strong leaders and if she wasn't going to lead by example she'll never get the support of the pack.

Derick had been triggered and he had sided with me. No amount of arguing would change his mind. He had even pointed out that Lisa had been feeling much better since she got a good nights sleep and there was nothing stopping her from light exercise.

I stood outside basking in that warm feeling that rose up inside me at the look of horror Lisa had given him as he volunteered them for daily training at three then dragged her away to get ready. A little chuckle like sigh left my mouth and I watched as Oscar bet another opponent.

'Fuck… he's actually really strong.' I felt my fighting instinct begin to rise and fought the urge to charge in to be his next opponent. The scent of the Alpha came to me and I looked around. He was pulling Lisa to the training grounds and grumbling.

"Alpha! Good to see you on the training field." He looked to me and nodded then frowned as he detected Oscar.

"What's he doing here?" I grinned.

"You remember Oscar right? He's good friends with Bella, Danica, Dean, Jenny and I. He was thinking of joining the pack if Danica does." He nodded and came closer.

"He is not… not quite right." I shrugged.

"He's strong." I smirked as Derick turned and brought Lisa to a ring in the training yard and they began to warm up with the other late comers. I looked at my nails and gave the nod for the next opponent to enter the ring with Oscar.

It had been about twenty minutes when finally, Derick notice Oscar had beaten every one of his opponents that approached him. He approached and frowned.

"Why isn't he fighting someone stronger? He's actually really good…" I nodded.

"I was just about to jump in the ring with him… Unless you want to have a go? I mean you haven't had a good thrashing in years." He gave me the stink eye before walking down to where Oscar jumped around and air punched waiting for the next opponent.

Derick's POV

I had just finished warming up with Lisa complaining the whole way through when Oscar caught my eye. He was fast and emitted a Beta aura but he seemed to be holding back. I waved Lisa to take a rest and she sat on a bench as I walked over to Mathew. He seemed like he was about to pounce into the ring with Oscar.

"Why isn't he fighting someone stronger? He's actually really good…" Mathew nodded.

"I was just about to jump in the ring with him… Unless you want to have a go? I mean you haven't had a good thrashing in years." I gave him the stink eye for his disrespect before walking down to where Oscar jumped around and air punched waiting for the next opponent.

"Oi! Oscar!" I bellowed and he turned with a smile.

"Hi Alpha, sorry I didn't bring any goat with me." I shuddered slightly and brought my arms up.

"I'm your next opponent." He grinned and sprang towards me a silly skip in his stride then he seemed to get the hint I wasn't playing around as he grew serious and brought up his hands. I could feel his determination radiating out and it felt a little unnerving. Without a second of hesitation, he dived at me throwing a deadly punch at my head.

Jenny's POV

I watched. As Derick went to the ring to fight Oscar and Lisa sat alone watching from the sideline. Slowly I walked up to her and offered her a water and a clean towel.

"You look like you could use them." She took the towel and wiped her face then hung it over her neck. Although it was cold she had been warming up with the alpha and was sweating. Frankly I was surprised she had survived the warmup.

"Thanks." she muttered and took the water her gaze falling onto Oscar. "Why is he here?" I shrugged and sat on the edge of the bench.

"He's a friend of a few of the pack… If Danica joins he will too." She nodded and frowned as Oscar landed a strong punch that actually made Derick slide back.

"What level is he…" She asked almost to herself.

"Oscar's a high Beta." She frowned and gave a little nod.

"I had thought he was a low Beta when we met… So Danica landed herself a high Beta…" She looked at me and I smirked.

"They've known each other for a long time. I've met him a few times throughout the years. Very capable." She nodded.

"If he's here does that mean Danica's here too?" I nodded. "Why isn't she at training?" I smiled.

"She's coming. She was finishing a Uni class at the moment." Lisa nodded

"What Uni does she go too?" I saw the subtle change in her body.

"Bell Gate Global Tech." She nodded and frowned.

"I wouldn't be too sure. We're on midsemester break now." I nodded.

"She's doing extra credit work." She nodded then turned her eyes back to the match.
