Exordium

"Ever wondered if there truly is another universe? How different is it from our own?" She started as she presented her thesis paper in front of the class. The project seemed more like fiction than reality at this point.

"How exactly are you gonna prove that? Know that not even the greatest scientist with the budget and technology could do so." A boy snickered in the shadows causing others to laugh along with them.

"QUIET." Their professor's voice boomed over the room causing the it to go completely still and silent. Sighing as he looked at the girl presenting her thesis once again.

"Miss Whitlock, I am afraid I have to agree with Mr. Laurier in this case." Pointing towards the hard copy of her paper in front of him. "This is a work of fiction, merely something that is seen in science fiction movies and books. I am afraid that I'll have to regretfully fail you this semester."

"But, I haven't even finished." Walking towards the professor, before glaring at the boy that interrupted her at the beginning of her defense. "Can I at least finish the defense sir? It might make you change your mind."

Sighing her Professor nodded and allowed her to proceed. At the end everyone was dumbfounded with what she had to say and show. It made all eyes follow her as she was given a task to do it on a bigger scale.

That day changed everything for her and everyone else. Jealously grew as they all watched her either waiting for her to succeed but most waiting for her to fail and as each step she grew closer to what she wanted to prove the fine line separating parallel lines that were not meant to meet was slowly being erased.
