Alex POV
“Do you expect me to believe it happened exactly like that?” I chuckled mirthlessly.
Amedis's tale was interesting because I had never heard that side of history before. But he was untrustworthy, and so was his account of events.
“I spoke not a word of a lie to you, Alex,” he said gravely. “My people were hunted to extinction for no reason other than greed, fear, and jealousy. The god killers intended to inherit the earth but failed just as true villains would.”
“You don’t see yourself as the villain here?” I said through gritted teeth.
“I see myself as a force of nature, Alex,” he replied, “I weed away weakness that poisons our people, and I replace it with strength.
“You and I are the same. We both wish to preserve and protect our people. You coveted the Moonstone for that very purpose, as did I.”
“You and your pack murdered half the people here, including my cousin, so don’t try and gain my sympathy!” I spat at him.
Amedis sighed.
