Chapter 77: The Apex

Alex POV

I had been using every single iota of strength, using magic to bolster my defenses and heighten my speed and healing abilities, augmenting my strikes with small amounts of lightning magic to stun Amedis.

And my entire body ached with pain after the first initial collision with the Immortal. It was true that he was considerably weaker than he had been when he still had the moonstone, but his strength was still phenomenal.

Even with my fully accessed Alpha mantle that had been magically enhanced by my ancestor, I was just barely keeping up with Amedis while he was barely breaking a sweat.

The plan had been that I stun Amedis with an attack, and then Loren comes in with the fatal blow after. The first time she had missed, but the second time she got him, or at least we thought that we had.

Instead, he had a trick up his literal sleeve; a magical shield made from the armor of Loren’s inter-dimensional ancestors, a material that could block her power from killing him.
