The return trip was endless. He noted every detail of the small shuttle, and even a few days ago, it would've had all his attention. But he was divided between the workings of the ship and Anatu. She stood facing the wall and every now and then would touch what looked like a normal part of the wall to him. The shuttle flew so smooth, he was barely aware that they moved.

Whatever Balthazar had said to her had wounded her. She might have returned with him, but she was so distant she might as well be on the Rising Sun. She held her body as if it had become brittle. Surely, she could understand that each of them had responsibilities to their people.
