Ch.23 Punch 'em when they are low... wait!

Lying on the roof. I was smoking and after tonight specially so. My mind mostly stopped working… My mom comes from a family of hunters. The Neighbors are also hunters. WTF! Man, I sighed and tried to calm myself. Okay, she maybe from a hunter's family, but there is a chance she is not a hunter herself.

It is a possibility that she doesn't believe in any of this. But what's more confusing is she married dad and Gramps was happy with that. So, there is a chance that they might have been on good terms with each other.

As I was thinking about all of this. I heard footsteps, it was Allison… she laid down next to me and I said, "So, how was your day?"

She exhaled and said, "Well, it was fun at first, but then it kind of went downhill."

I looked at her and asked, "How so?"

She sighed and said, "Well, we got caught and I kind of got grounded and Scott's mom was also angry with us. It would have been worse, even that mountain lion didn't show up."

I was confused, and I looked at her and said, "Wait, what? There was a mountain lion? How?"

She looked at me and said, "Yeah, your mom didn't tell you? There was a mountain lion. That appeared at the PTA. Luckily, no one was hurt. The police took care of the mountain lion."

That wolf is smart. I asked her, "Is that the same cougar that was attacking people?"

She hummed and said, "Yeah, they confirmed it." She looked at me and asked, "Why are you asking something that obvious?"

I looked at her and said, "On that note. Why did you think it was good to bunk school today?"

She rolled her eyes and said, "It wasn't my idea, per se. It was Scott's… he wanted to take me away from school so that I didn't have to bear all those snarky comments."

I looked at her and said, "Only, Lydia and I knew that today was your birthday… no one else knows, man. And even then, it shouldn't be such a big deal."

She looked at me and said, "Eh, it's fine… at least I got to enjoy today."

I decided to tease her and asked, "Oh, is that so? Then what did you guys do?"

She then told me about her day, and it was just boring, they just went sightseeing and that's it. She looked at me and asked, "What?"

I shook my head and said, "Eh, nothing was hoping for something better."

She chuckled and said, "Well, Scott's not like that."

I hummed and nodded and said, "Oh yeah, I am getting that."

I woke up the next day and I decided not to worry about my mom potentially being a hunter. So, I went about my day as I normally would. I got up and went on my morning run, had breakfast and went to school.

As usual, I arrived early. I was walking into the school and was intercepted by Lydia. She wore a black frilly top with blue jeans. She trotted toward me and said, "I heard…" She looked around, and she whispered, "I heard that you might become the captain?"

I sighed and robotically said, "Good morning, Lydia… How are you? I heard about the incident, it must have been traumatizing."

She walked a little faster, and she stood in front of me, and she folded her hands, she raised her eyebrows and asked, "Is that true?"

I looked at her and sighed and said, "Look I know you are concerned for Jackson, or for yourself… I can't really tell which is it. But coach has said that he will delay the announcement for Jackson."

She shook her head and said, "How does that help me? What am I supposed to do?"

I shook my head and rubbed the bridge of my nose and sighed and said, "I don't know Lydia." I looked at her and said, "But whatever it is, you will need to figure it out in your own."

I walked past her, but she still tried to follow me, I reached my locker, and she asked, "Can't you just decline it?"

I didn't even bother answering her, I took my books, and she said, "If, you do this, I'll do my best to dig up your past and ruin you."

I slammed my locker shut and it startled her. Not only that, but I walked closer to her and I pinned her against the lockers and I placed my hands around her head and I said in a cold tone, "You can try your damn hardest, but you won't find, anything!"

My heart was racing, it almost felt like it would burst out of my chest. I was close to transforming, but I tried to remember Ashley, the moon and everything that calmed me and my heart slowly calmed down. I looked her in the eyes, and she was terrified, and I decided if she wanted the trouble I give her some, I said to her in her ears, "You forgot something Lydia… Jackson can always find out about you and me? And I wonder how would he react then?"

She looked at me and said, "You wouldn't dare."

I bobbed my head and I said, "You don't know anything about, what I can or can't do… so don't go picking a fight you can't win."

As I was arguing with Lydia, I heard some murmurs from someone in the corner. It was Jackson. An idea popped in my head and I smiled and said, "You will have some explaining to do." Lydia was confused.

I leaned a little closer, bringing our faces closer together. Her face was so close that I could feel the warmth of her breath. To anyone, it would look like that we were kissing. Lydia was still confused as to what I was doing. She was still looking at me and was terrified, she was holding onto her bag with dear life.

As I was faking it, I saw Jackson coming off the corner. He saw us and I backed away, and I looked at him, but he looked like shit. His face was ashy and white, and he had bags under her eyes. He looked at us and Lydia saw me backing away and looking somewhere else, and she turned her head and she saw Jackson.

She got what I was doing. But Jackson did something that I didn't expect from him, he just smirked and shook his head and he walked away, and I said, "Huh, looks like he doesn't care.~" Lydia grunted and stepped on my feet, and she ran to Jackson.

I dusted my shoe, and walked towards the class; it was Biology. I walked into the class and I sat next to Erica. She looked at me, and she said, "What happened? You look pissed."

I shook my head and said, "Ah, it's nothing to worry about… I'm good."

She tilted her head, but then she shook her head and asked, "How was the PTA? Was it good?"

I nodded and smacked my lips and said, "Yeah, it was good." I asked her, "You didn't come to the PTA, did you?"

She shook her head and said, "No, I have straight A's I didn't need to come. Why?"

I nodded and said, "Oh, yeah, I forgot you were super smart."

She looked at me, and she asked, "Did you get a bad rep from the teachers or something, or is it like popular people problem? I don't know if I can help with that... but I'll try."

I chuckled and said, "It's not a problem for you to worry about. It's just a minor inconvenience... That's all."

She nodded and said, "Alright, but you can come to me for help."

I smiled and said, "Same."

After a few moments, the teacher came and class started, and I tried to pay attention in class. I just didn't want to think about Lydia. The rest of the school day went on a little easy. I spent my time away from Lydia, but we still had calculus together, and the whole time in the class I could feel someone drilling a hole in the back of my head.

Aside from that one class, I was mostly left alone, I enjoyed a little quiet time with Erica during lunch and honestly that was the best part about school today. I didn't tell her about the whole thing with Lydia because she kinda hates her, so I decided not to ruin her mood as well.

It was midnight, the moon was full, and I was hopeful… that I would meet Thomas today. I kinda wanted to ask her about my mom and her side of the family. So where was I? I was on the roof smoking.

I was so anxious and eager to meet him that I couldn't even sleep properly. So I decided to go up on the roof and smoke one and then try and sleep. As I was smoking, I was again visited by Allison.

She laid down besides me, and she said, "You really don't like to sleep, huh?"

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "I am a bit of a night owl."

She chuckled and said, "That I know."

She looked like she wanted to ask something, so I asked, "What is it?"

She shook her and said, "It's nothing…"

I looked at her and said, "I know that it's never nothing… is something wrong?"

She looked at me and asked, "Lydia told me that you are trying to break her and Jackson up. I know it's not true, but I heard that you kissed her or something?"

I sighed and rubbed my forehead and said, "Okay, chronologically, she was the one who kissed me first. Secondly, I am not really trying to break them up. I just did pretend to kiss her today in front of Jackson to spite her, and Jackson didn't care... at all. And thirdly, what I did was because she threatened to make my life miserable by digging my past."

She looked shocked, and she said, "Huh, that more Bitchy than usual."

I groaned and said, "I know… she is the worst."

But then she said, "But you still shouldn't have done that. Jackson is already feeling down…"

I nodded and said, "Yeah, I saw him. He looked like shit."

Hey guys, I hope you like the chapter and I went with a new route because the first one's moral and legal implications were kinda dire. So yeah, this is the new route. If it wasn't like the school hallway, if it was like the locker room or anywhere like that. The first option would have been the choice. I get that this chapter is must feel like a filler because it is. The next chapter it will pick up ep. 6. So yeah.

Ps:- The part where Scott comes to Allison's home and she is told about the beast has already happened.
