Chapter 10: Depature

Zayden’s POV

After crying for a few hours, Celeste fell asleep. My wolf wasn't pleased to see his mate like this. However, I have been preventing him from taking control. In fact, I almost shifted and lost control when I saw the mark Devlin had left on her wrist.

While Devlin didn't kill her, he did something else to aggravate me more than finding her. He left his dirty vampire mark on her. Despite being her mate, I haven't been able to mark her yet. The mate bond hasn't come through to her yet, and I want to give her time.

"Come in!" The knock on the door interrupts my deep thoughts.

It was Oliver.

As he walks over and sits down opposite me, he asks, "What happened to Celeste while I was away?".

I run my fingers through my hair.

"She ran away, and I found her in a bookstore. It doesn't matter where she was, though. Devin found her and marked her." I feel the rage of my wolf rising up once again.

Oliver doesn’t say anything for a while.
