Chapter 16: Doubting Myself

Celeste POV

The pain I feel in my head is making it nearly impossible for me to open my eyes. With a bit of strength and willpower, I force them to open. I blink a few times till I gain focus.

I am lying on a hardwood floor that has cracked from the weather. Weeds were pushing through the holes due to the cracks. I steady myself and come to a sitting position.

The walls in this house are just as filthy as the floors, with cobwebs replacing the wallpaper. As I touch the back of my head, I feel the dry blood clumping in my hair. I can’t believe Raven hit me and left me here.

I let my guard down because I thought I would be safe in Zayden’s pack and no one would harm me. I feel a pinch of pain in my heart, knowing that I was opening up to Raven hurt a bit. I thought I had found another friend. But with anything in life, lessons are learned.
