Ponpon, the yellow cat hermit, placed a tea set on each of their laps. “First, a drink to quench your thirst, mya.”
Each set had three ceramic teacups with no handle and a small kettle. The light yellow color occupying the cup on Larson’s right smelled fruity. The middle cup emitted a toasty aroma from its deep orange hue. On his left, a fragile golden shade filled the cup and tickled his nose with its honey scent.
“From these cups, choose one that best suits your taste. There are no right or wrong answers here.” Ponpon gave them instructions, as if they were answering an open-ended question. “Come on, take a sip.”
“Hmm… something doesn’t sit right with me.” Larson inspected the middle cup.
She tilted her head after sipping her jasmine-scented tea. “What’s the matter?”
“Why serve tea of all the drinks?” He looked up at her.
“As if I had anything else.” She shrugged. “Besides, it’s healthier than just water, mya.”
Edwin agreed, “You do have a point there.”
