Mr. Alonzo's son
I went to my closet and picked out a black top with my jeans and Nike sneakers. I added a black headband and my denim jacket.
Me- dad, I'm ready.
Dad- ok let's go.
We got in the car and we drove there.
When we got there, I saw a man sitting
in a booth alone.
Me- hey dad, he is at the booth in the
back.
Dad- ok let's go.
We walked up to him and sat down.
Dad- hey Alonzo. Nice to see you again.
Me- hi.
I said quietly. I am not really a people
person. All my life it's been just me,
Rose and my dad.
Alonzo- hi. Nice to see you again Richard. And it's a pleasure to meet you
Kristabel.
Me- nice to meet you too.
We had ordered our meals. I ordered a
burger and fries.
Alonzo- how is school?
Me- it's great. I've kept my grades up
and I'm making my dad proud so it's
great.
Alonzo- that's great.
Me- I'm sorry but if you don't mind my
asking, I thought your son would be
joining us.
Alonzo- yes, he'll be here in a second.
Me- ok.
Alonzo- you got a great kid there
Richard.
Dad- she makes me prouder every day.
Me- thanks dad.
Just as I said that a hot guy came in and
Alonzo motioned him to come over so I
guessed that's his kid. Have I mentioned
he is hot? He was wearing a black shirt
and had undone the first two buttons.
He had on Nike airforce sneakers and
denim jeans with a black leather jacket.
Alonzo- Richard and Flora. This is my
son Kyle. Kyle, this is my business
partner Richard, and his daughter Flora.
Kyle- sup.
My dad's eyes widened at the kind of
greeting Kyle gave him but he managed
to cover it up by saying hi.
Dad- hey Kyle.
Me- hi. Nice to meet you.
Kyle- I wish I could say the same.
This kid was getting on my nerves already. We know you don't want to be here but there is no need to be rude. I think my dad sensed I would explode soon because he touched my arm and I looked up at him. He was pleading with me to be calm. My dad and I have this
weird sign language only us understand.
Me- excuse me.
Dad- sure.
I went to the washroom where I took a
deep breath and exhaled. I felt much
better after that so I went to sit back
down and as soon as I sat down, I got a
call from Jenny.
Me- excuse me. I have to take this.
Alonzo- sure.
Dad- be back soon.
Kyle- don't care.
He said while texting someone. I left and went to speak with Jenny.
Convo on the phone with Jenny
Me- hi.
Jenny- hi. How is dinner going?
Me- it was going great actually until
my dad's business partner, Alonzo's
son came. He is rude and arrogant
and very much a jerk.
Jenny- I am so sorry for you but I will
buy you an ice cream if you tell me all
about it tomorrow.
Me- deal.
Jenny- talk to you tomorrow.
Me- yeah talk to you later.
I said as I ended the call and went back
to take a seat.
Dad- who was it?
Me- Jenny.
Dad- okay. Kyle.
Kyle- sup.
Dad- what high school do you attend?
Kyle- well, I will be starting Riverview
tomorrow.
Dad- oh. Well maybe Kristabel could show
you around since she goes there.
I gave my dad one of my "what the
fuck?!" looks and he gave me one of his
"please do it for me" looks that I always
fall for.
Alonzo- that sounds good.
Me- sure.
Kyle- whatever. Dad, I have to go.
Alonzo- but Kyle.
Kyle- you said if I spent at least few
minutes at this stupid dinner I could go
out with Carlos! Now, I have to go!
And he walked out while I rolled my
eyes before giving my dad one of my "I
am tired let's go" looks.
Dad- Alonzo it was nice to see you
again but I have to go.
Alonzo- same here.

They gave each other a hug before we
left and as soon as I got home, I said
goodnight to my dad before heading to
my room and going to sleep.
