Chapter 11

Cassandra’s POV

Once I have woken up I could feel a dark side invading my body , not allowing me to take control of myself. It felt like I was being held captive into my own mind with someone else controlling my body, that made the decisions for me.

I wanted to jump into William’s arms as I saw him but all I could muster was a kiss on his cheek, walking away feeling colder than ever. And even though I tried controlling my anger the urge to kill was growing stronger and stronger. Once I could feel the knife in my hand all I could think of was to stab someone, luckily Irene caught on to what is happening and saved me from the biggest mistake of my life and their lives as well. I feel cursed and it is only getting worse.

Moments later I wake in a dream like state , I knew it wasn’t the real world since everything was stranger time passed by differently. I got up from the ground I found myself on wearing this white gown with my bare feet touching the grass. My hair was braided loosely and I could smell everyone the scent of blossoms. With every step I took I grew more and more afraid, but I got closer and closer to someone that I have never seen before, it was someone I have never met before but for some reason I seemed to have known. It was my great great grandmother , from our royal family.

‘’ Don’t you worry my child, I am Queen Ida , well I used to be. She smiled warmly. ‘’ her hand touched mine and I could feel this great connection between us. ‘’ You are in grave danger, I had to come in any form possible to help you, to guide you from this disaster. You have been cursed by the fairies my dear , you must return to your loved ones and break the curse with all the power you have got.’’

‘’ But , I don’t know if I can… the fairy queen took my mom and dad away from me.’’ I teared up .

‘’ You have so many people that are waiting for you , that is your pack that you must protect. I know it is hard but harder times will come and you must be ready for it. The throne is yours. ‘’ she smiled. ‘’ As for your parents my sweet child , they might be closer than you think , don’t look at the appearance look for the hidden truth.’’

‘’ What do you mean?’’

‘’ Oh you will find out soon enough. Never trust the fairies my darling. Only the good ones. I must go now. Take care and be prepared.’’ She smiled as her body turned into clouds and soon vanished into thin air.

I was still in the dream , waiting to wake up but nothing seemed to work. Everything was fading away slowly and I could feel almost like years have passed by but nothing has changed. I still feel trapped. As I started running I noticed a door in the middle of the woods and the more I ran towards it the more far it would get. Finally reaching it’s handle once I touched it this bright light blinded me.

William’s POV

‘’ Irene it has been hours!’’

‘’ I am sorry Will, but this curse is stronger than I thought.’’

‘’ We are starting to loose her .’’ I whispered noticing her deadly state she was turning into. It felt like she chose to not fight it anymore.

‘’ Will…. If she wakes up there is only two versions of what will happen. Either we broke the curse and Cass , our Cass will wake up unharmed and not evil . Or , our Cass will be gone and the curse will have the full effect , which mean it will change that prophecy in what we all have feared . So we have to make this right, otherwise I don’t know if she will make it , her real self. ‘’explained Irene.

‘’ William , there is someone waiting for you at the door.’’ Gestured my father.

As I made my way I noticed this tall man , he had short curly hair with a beard covering his face, his hair pinned in a small bun , his eyes were the same green as Cassandra’s , he had a fierce look with a cloak covering most of his body . He motions with his hand if he may enter and I nod.

‘’ You must be William Elordi.’’ Said he with a deeper voice.

‘’ Yes I am , who are you if I may ask?’’

‘’ I believe Cass has been waiting long enough to meet me. Mister Bane at your service alpha William.’’ He explained .

‘’ Your Mister Bane , the one from the letters?’’ but he didn’t have any chance to respond Aspen and Alexander ran towards him giving him a hug.

‘’ BANE! YOU FINALLY CAME!’’ they all smiled .

‘’ I believe Cassandra really needs my help , and what uncle would I be if I didn’t come no help my niece.’’

‘’ Wait , you are her uncle? She never said she did.’’ I wondered.

‘’ Me and her mother grew apart many years ago . She doesn’t know because she was three years old when we broke any relation. She believed it would be better for her that way.’’ He said with sadness in his eyes. ‘’ I wrote to her many letters but her mother burned them all. Without her father’s help not even the letter from the book would not have made it into her hands.’’

‘’ I believe the rest of the story shall be said when she wakes up.’’

‘’ Indeed. Now I must go and help her. We don’t have much time with the prophecy and the curse turning it upside down . ‘’ he finished as he rushed toward my bedroom where Cass was.

‘’ Dear Irene , please step aside , I am here to help .’’ said Bane. She looked confused for a second until she mate his gaze .

‘’ You are related to her , aren’t you ?’’ Irene smiled.

Cassandra’s POV

As my body was being dragged through the strong light, I could sense I was being rescued. It sounded like many voices around me , but as I got closer to the end , a dark shadow appears and grasp my arms pulling me back into the dream I was trying to escape.

‘’ You must fulfill your purpose! Kill Cassandra Cromwell! You must spill blood!’’ e dark voices whispered from behind, trying to drag me back , the knife reappearing in my hand . All I could do was scream louder and louder trying to escape this nightmare.

Soon I got out but couldn’t realize on which side I landed. But once I opened my eyes , I met with William’s gaze. I jumped from the bed hugging him tightly crying into his chest. My eyes were swollen up and my wrists were burning in pain , trying to heal from what has happened. Maybe it wasn’t a dream after all looking towards my bruises I knew that what was dragging me back was real and was trying to make me harm my friends.Looking towards the others I noticed this man I have never seen before.

‘’ Hello Cassandra, I’m Bane.’’ He smiled.

‘’ It really is you?’’

‘’Yes , I also happen to be your uncle.’’

‘’ What?’’ I was getting confused.

‘’ I was your mothers brother , but when you were little about three years old we grew apart , me and your mother. We had different beliefs of what should happen with you. So she decided to cast me out , if it wasn’t for your father non of my letter would have made it to you.’’

‘’ They passed…’’ I whispered. ‘’ Unless what I saw was real..’’

‘’What did you happen to see?’’ Bane asked.

‘’Queen Ida. She came to me in my dream and the last words were don’t look at the appearance look for the hidden truth . If what she said was true , it means that there is a chance my parents are still alive , held captive by something or someone.’’

‘’ I understand , we will soon find out.’’

‘’ Now , can you please explain to me what happened to our family?’’ I asked.

‘’ Me and your mother used to be very close , even though we were not the same. You see our mother had a prior relationship with a warlock which resulted into her having me , so you can imagine what resulted in the end , instead of turning into a wolf I ended up taking my fathers traits , that is how I was able to save you. Your mother , resulted from my step father who was a good man , he was also a wolf so she did end up carrying our wolf royal blood down the line. Things were good for a while and each of us learned how to control our powers. We were this complete duo , once we learned about our prophecy your mother was already pregnant with you. She said she wasn’t ready for what it was to come , so we stayed here in North Dakota trying to conceal your existence as much as possible. Once you turned three some wolves noticed that you were in fact their daughter and everyone started talking about it. I told her we should learn how to fight better and teach from a young age to control your powers, she said she disagreed with everything and said no. Me and your father tried talking to her but she would never listen , so one night trying to show her the truth she banished me away from you , told me to never look for you and to forget about the prophecy . three days later they started traveling everyone , never sitting in one place since your scent was strong. ‘’ he said.

‘’ Who was looking for me?’’

‘’ Our evil cousin for instance , than his son started about 4 years ago , and anyone that was on their side. I tried my best to keep them away , but the black wolf seemed that he has found you already . I tried building an army to be by your side but in order for this to work , you must lead, you must control , you must lead us all. Otherwise it will end up evil.’’

‘’ Why would they want to harm me? I never asked for this.’’ I whispered.

‘’ I know , but it is what it is and you must fulfill it. Find your way , we are all here for you.’’ Bane tried to smile.

I excused myself and took a moment for myself. I entered the bathroom and turned on the shower , I had to clean off everything. The hot water was caressing my body as I let it flow all over me. Letting tears fall as I grieved my family. What if they were in fact dead? I brushed my dark thoughts away and dried myself with a towel. I changed into some jeans and one of William’s hoodies as I pulled my black converse over my socks.

‘’ Are you alright?’’ Will asked once I came out of the bathroom.

‘’ I’m….good. I think…’’ I said hugging him tightly. ‘’ I guess school is over for us… I can’t do both .’’

‘’ I know , my parents went to talk to the teachers , we will manage later with it, don’t worry.’’ He said kissing my forehead. As we got downstairs I started apologizing to everyone , they all hugged me and we sat down on the couches.

‘’ Cass what happened to you in those woods?’’ asked Aspen.

‘’ I don’t really know , while I was running in the night I fell in this river and a fairy found me. He passed me the cloak you guys saw earlier and he passed me the note you see on the table. Once I tried fleeing the place he basically talked gibberish and everything turned into this dark place. My wolf went crazy inside wanting to come out to kill , I couldn’t even walk properly and my mind was clouded. The curse wanted to me to kill all of you in the name of their Queen I guess. So while I still could I kept going further and further away until I could find your scents near me. I was able to not shift because otherwise I would not have been able to control my wolf no more. At some point I started going in circles and I ended up here at our den , but once I saw you all , I collapsed.’’

‘’That sounds … awful. It’s hard to control our wolf let alone when it desires to kill…nothing happened, right?’’ asked Aspen.

‘’ No , I mean I think so , I never stepped outside of the woods , I didn’t eat, barely slept. I was too afraid to talk to anyone, so I just waited for it to end.’’ I whispered as Will hugged me.
