~Justin~
I get up early this morning to sit on the PO Box once again. I just need someone to check it. I have been sitting here for a few hours and have gotten nothing. I end up back home and get some food. As I'm trying to decide whether I should go back to the post office or try to smooth things over with Katie, my phone rings.
"Hello."
"We've been watching you."
"Who is this?"
"You have been looking for us."
"What do you want?"
"Watch your back." The call disconnects. The caller ID said unknown, yet they knew who I was. I know this is from the company, but how did they get my number? I can't have the company get to me before I can take them out. I get up and look out of the window. I notice a black SUV with tinted windows that I've never seen before. I make a note to keep an eye on it.
I get out my phone and I dial Katie. She is pissed about last night but agrees to meet me later for drinks. I need to put this plan B in place asap, especially since it looks like the company is targeting me. I just need to be able to get the information on the company that Nemes may have locked away. I lie on the couch and take a nap before meeting Katie.
*START OF DREAM*
"Get your ass out here you little ingrate!" I slowly creep out to the living room, keeping my head down. I know if I make eye contact, it will simply piss him off. He is already mad, but things can always get worse. "Didn't I tell you to have the kitchen clean by the time I got back?" I don't respond and I don't look up. "Answer me you little bastard!" I slightly nod. He grabs my arm roughly and shakes me. "Look at me, now!" I look up and his eyes are on fire. I swear I can see my death in them and I'm sure the only reason I don't get killed is because I'm too useful.
He grabs my face and pulls me to the kitchen. I know I cleaned this room from top to bottom. He pulls me down to the floor and rubs my face into a juice puddle. "Does this look clean to you?!" He is rubbing my face into the floor so hard that I can feel my nose crack. A warm liquid is coming from my nostrils and has no place to fall except the floor. "Are you fucking bleeding on my floor?! You little shit!" I'm pulled off of the floor and thrown against the wall, hitting the refrigerator. My back and head took the brunt of the impact. I tried to get up, but he was faster and kicked me in my stomach. I curled up in pain and he kicked me again, this time hitting a rib. The pain is horrible. How did I end up here? I'm just a kid and I'm sure this is not how a kid should have to live. As soon as I'm old enough and strong enough, I'm going to run away. They will never find me once I leave. He spits on me, "Clean this shit up!"
*END OF DREAM*
I pop up gasping for air and drenched in sweat. I haven't thought of that day for a long time. That was the day I made a promise to myself to help others avoid this life once I freed myself. I knew the life I was living was horrible at worst. You don't treat children the way I was treated. Once I was strong enough, I made it my mission to find those that did that to me while saving children along the way. The company may be after me, but I will not forget the promise I made to myself or those kids like me.
After showering and changing, I head out to the car so I can meet Katie. The SUV is still outside, but I can't tell if anyone is in it. I get into my car and pull out into the street. Just as I suspected, the black SUV followed my actions and slipped a few cars behind me. I'm using the GPS to get to the bar, so I decide to make a couple of unexpected turns on my way. The GPS continues to guide me and the SUV is still following me. Is this the company? It must be because who else would bother to follow me?
I make it to the bar and get out of the car. As I walk into the building, I notice the SUV drive past and made a U-turn to park across the street. I'm taken to a table in the back where Katie was waiting. She looks pissed and I can't blame her. Her red hair seems redder, almost as if it is on fire. Her green eyes were throwing daggers all over my face. Thank goodness looks can't really kill. Katie looks pretty good from what I can tell. She has on a blue bodycon dress that I don't think goes very far down. It is hard to tell since she is sitting. Her arms are crossed over her chest, which is just pushing her chest up. The dress is strapless so there is no problem seeing the cleavage she has and she has a lot of it. I sit across from her and have the perfect view of the door. I'm not sure what I'm looking for because I wasn't able to see anyone in the SUV, but maybe I will know when I see it.
"Well?!" Katie is just glaring at me. I have to admit, I do feel a bit bad ditching her like I did last night. There is no way to explain the pull towards Janessa nor can I tell her that I was attacked by a vampire last night. I sit and look at her while also looking at the door. Katie is cute, I have to admit. She has a button nose and full lips. She wears a lot of makeup, but it looks good on her and she is constantly wearing big eyelashes. "Are you going to explain yourself or do I need to leave?" I clear my throat and hope for the best.
"I'm sorry. I…..I just had to go." Um, yeah that doesn't sound that good, I must admit.
"You just had to go where? Go dance with Janessa?" Damn, so she did see that. I would be a fool to assume that she didn't. I can't explain that away and nothing I say will help at this point. "Do you and the boss have something going on?"
"Absolutely not!" Well I don't think we do anyway. "I am her assistant and you know what that job entails. It does not include anything sexual." I mean, would I like to bend her over her desk once or twice....yes, PLEASE! The reality of the matter is, we are simply employer and employee. I don't know what this pull is, but it is not smart nor healthy. Katie seems to take my words in. I notice a man walk through the door. He is not the first person to walk through, but he is giving me vibes of someone to be on alert for.
This guy is pretty tall; looks to be about 6'5 and he is seriously buff. It looks like hitting him would be the same as crashing your car into a brick wall. The wall won't even have a dent, but you will probably die and your car will definitely be trashed. He has short blond hair and tattoos on his arms. He is wearing a fitted black shirt with some denim jeans and black boots. The suspicious part is him looking around the room when he walks in. Once his eyes settle on me, he looks for a bit before he sits down at the bar. That tells me that I need to be on the look out for this one. I wonder if he was in the SUV that was following me.
"So are we going to go to the club or not?" Katie has her hand on my arm and is giving me her best puppy dog eyes. Too bad for her that doesn't work on me and I have things I need to see about.
"I'm sorry, beautiful. I have some things I need to take care of tonight." Katie sighs and crosses her arms over her chest again. "Awwww, don't be like that. I promise that I will give your body a proper...fondling," I say with a wink and a lick of my lips. She watches every move as if she is in the desert and searching for water. I lean in and caress her cheek. "I have some really important things to take care of tonight. I will make this up to you though." Katie leans into my touch and closes her eyes. I'm not sure if it is me or if she is like this with every man she comes across, but that isn't really my concern at this point. "Gotta go." I stand up and Katie frowns at the loss of my touch. I blow her a kiss goodbye and start to make my way. I notice the man perks up when I leave our table. I decide to head out back. I get into an alley and start walking down towards the parking lot. I quickly turn the corner and wait for the man to follow suit. I wait about five minutes, but no one comes. I turn and go towards my car when I notice the man getting into the SUV that was parked across the street. He gets in on the passenger side telling me there is someone else driving. Hmmmm…..tricky, tricky. He is smarter than he looks, that is for sure.
