A KNOCK GOT Cadmus' attention while he was so busy reading some papers in his office at Hunt's mansion. He got a pile of important papers and deals that needs his full attention. He has to sign it by tomorrow.
He sniffed the air as he smells the familiar scent of his Beta, Finn, and a fresh scent of newly picked flowers. It lingered through his nose down to his nostrils.
A corner of Cadmus's lips rose for a smile.
'Flowers?'
"Come in," though smiling, Cadmus frowned as Finn opened the door of his office.
From there, Finn emerged holding a bouquet in his hands with a cracked smile on his lips. It was white lilies mixed with some chrysanthemums and baby's breath.
"What's that?" Cadmus asked before leaning back in the swivel chair that he was sitting on.
Obviously, it was flowers but he wanted to know why Finn is still holding it. As far as he knew, he should be given it to Calla already.
"Alpha, she didn't accept the flowers," Finn announced while grinning at him nervously. "again..." he added in a low voice.
Cadmus's back immediately rose from the reclining chair when he heard what his Beta said.
"She didn't what?!" He growled loudly at Finn.
Is she really trying to provoke him?
"Yes, Alpha. And she clearly said that you should stop sending her flowers and gifts. She also told me that you're just wasting time and money because you're not her type." Finn's scratched his head uncomfortably as the Alpha's remaining patience was finally exhausted.
"Really?" Cadmus raised an eyebrow before touching his chin. "No, she's mine. And she will be mine again by hook or by crook." He said with a loud slap on his table.
Finn turned away when he saw the destroyed table. He really needs to convince Calla to accept his Alpha if he wanted to get his peaceful world back. Oh, gracious goodness but why in the hell did he end up in this situation. Finn couldn't help himself not to release a frustrated groan. Ugh!
Calla had been rejecting Cadmus so many times and all of his gifts are returned to him and he is honestly no longer happy about her being so hard to get. His patience is running out of control. He's been trying to be good for quite a while and she's also been so annoying for being so snob. And how many men has he chased away, mortal or werewolf just to make sure that no one else can get close to Calla? Damn, but these things are already beyond his limit!
It has also been two weeks since the incident happened in the Quantum Leap parking lot. The place where he first saw Calla inside his car, six years ago. And up to this day, the memory of what happened to them in the past is still fresh in his mind. Even the woman's soft lips still seemed to be felt by him. Unaware, Cadmus touched his lips with his fingertips as if it was Calla's lips.
"Alpha, are you still listening to me?"
Cadmus's snapped back into his senses when he felt Finn's faint tap on his shoulder followed y his annoying voice.
He furrowed as he tilt his head to look at Finn who just wrinkled his nose in disbelief. Seems like his Alpha is being possessed by the so-called love.
"What?" Cadmus hissed at Finn in irritation.
"Whoa, easy, Alpha... easy," Finn mumbled as he laughed and raised both of his hands.
Instead of noticing Finn, Cadmus stood up and stepped towards the long sofa in the middle of his office.
"Like I've said, Alpha, why don't you take your courtship to the next level?" Finn suggested who was standing behind his back.
Cadmus turned around and looked at his Beta. "What do you mean?" he asked as he sat on the sofa.
"Instead of sending her flowers and expensive gifts, why don't you try to ask her out?" Finn said with sparkling eyes and an excited smile. If it's gonna be the end of his hardships, then he's willing to be a freelance love advisor here. "I mean, the romantic one. Dinner under the moonlight. Or maybe, under the starlight. What do you think?"
Cadmus raised his brows as he think about what Finn had suggested to him. "Moonlight? I think that's better but if I wait for the moon, that would be two weeks from now. That's too long." He said as excitement filled his heart but of course, he didn't want to show it to Finn.
"Starlight then," Finn said briefly as he typed on his cellphone.
"Starlight it is then." Cadmus agreed while nodding. "That looks more okay. I'll prepare some food to bring so I have to call Vera."
Vera is his cook who was already with him for years.
"Yes," Finn answered again but the attention was still focused on whoever he was talking to on his cellphone.
Cadmus raised an eyebrow. "Who's that person you're talking to? Is that even more important than the future of the Hunt race? Oh, maybe your new girl again, Finn." He said to the Beta who just glanced at him.
"It's Denna, Alpha," he replies, referring to her sister who has married Seventh D'Seven's gamma and currently lives in Seventhstone.
"Why?" He asked in surprise.
What Cadmus knows is that Denna is pregnant with her first pup.
"I need to go to Seventhstone, Alpha. Denna is about to give birth and Darylle is panicking like a freakin' kid." Finn frowned as he got up from sitting on the sofa.
Cadmus nodded. "Is that so? Oh, all right. Please just tell Denna that I'll be visiting her tomorrow. And, also send her my congratulations and to her husband." He said as he also got up and followed Finn out of his office.
"Yes, Alpha," Finn replied. "And, good luck," he added.
Cadmus just nodded before giving the beta a soft pat on the shoulder.
When Finn finally disappeared from his sight and Cadmus let out a deep sigh. Who would have known that dealing with a woman was not as easy as he thought so?
Maybe Finn was right. Sometimes his beta is really useful as well.
Yes, he really needs to level up ...
