Little Friend

I sat here, chained to the floor. Drenched in tons of metal, it's so painful. Moving my hand a little every few seconds, I could feel consciousness in it. Lifting a cuff on one hand and looking at the black and blue coloring that painted my wrist, almost every inch covered. I sigh and try to move the chains off my body. At the very least the cuffs around my wrists and ankles weren't going anywhere any time soon. Finally managing to move the thick metal around so I was comfortable. I looked at the bruised skin and scrunched up my nose. That's definitely going to hurt. I lifted my head and looked around. It was a single room covered in moss and cracks in the bricks. A small brick sized window sat up higher on the wall. Light shining through it and casting onto the other wall. A few holes were in the bricks themselves but nothing big enough for me to escape. Even if the door was wide open I still wouldn't be able to escape. The shackles were almost too heavy for me to move let alone stand up and walk. Grunting I let my back hit the wall laying my head to it. I let my mind drift, I mean I was going to be here for a while so what could go wrong?

Slowly my eyelids become heavy and I'm struggling to keep them open. Yawning almost every second of this cursed time locked up in this room. I feel weak and tired so I gave in to this temptation, letting myself fall into a deep slumber.

Looking around I see large wooden shelves filled with tons of these different colored squares. I think they call them books? At least that's what mama told me. Looking down I noticed the pillows I was sitting on, they were softer than the clouds themselves. I let myself linger in that spot, out of my peripheral vision I see something white prancing over to me. Quickly turning my head a little, shocked in expression. Sighing letting myself relax when it's only a little kitten. It's white fur and very few markings make it unique. Said markings kind of looked like an exclamation mark and the one on its tail looked like a dirt smudge. I smiled watching the scrawny little kitten stumble. I pulled my knees up startling him a little. I panicked because it hissed at me. Slowly hugging my knees tighter, as soon as he realized I wasn't a threat it went back to normal. It waddled over to me and sat right near my foot. It curled into a tiny ball falling asleep almost instantly. How cute, I cooed at it in silence trying not to scare it. I reached down slowly, petting it gently. The kitten barely even stirred in its sleep. Deciding what to do I pick it up and place it in my lap. The little thing squirms a little but eventually settles and falls into slumber again. I was petting it as softly as I could.

While petting it I noticed a pair of eyes watching us. Not wanting to let my guard down and thinking that this place is infested with cats I just stared back. Eventually the thing moved a tiny bit closer, I could see the flicker of its tongue. Befuddled, I decided to try and get a closer look. Obviously I didn't move very far, as to not wake the little baby in my arms. I squint my eyes moving my chest a little closer to try and see the animal or creature. The creature had scales or something in a very dark green making it really hard to see. But I see the movement.

I rose to my feet ready to run but the sharp pain in my legs caused me to collapse to the floor. The kitten jumped, surprised by my actions. It turned and looked at me. My knees pulled closer to my chest as my face became wet and warm. I hugged my knees, laying in the fetal position, scared.

My eyes fluttered open, my face was drenched in warm tears. Looking around with paranoia makes me react hastily. It was dark. Really dark and cold. Way too cold. I shiver while pulling my body closer for warmth. The pain is overbearing. I whimper in pain, lying there I accepted my fate. Closing my eyes and breathing slowly to calm my racing heart. The chains were just as heavy as they were before I passed out, but the dripping sound never left. This was my life now.

Chained, Afraid and Alone.
