"What are all these people doing here?" Jiniro is passing by the alley where one of the boss of a group is killed and then remembers what he had seen yesterday, he feels embarrassed about it and tries to forget about it ever since.
"Why did I have to remember that of all time? Now that I think about it-" he looks at the same place and sees that some soldiers are washing away the blood with water and broom, it is then that he realize that something must have happened to the two, furthermore, the people around him are talking about it, confirming that there had been an accident after all.
"Did you see the bodies earlier? They are brutally mutilated. I don't think that there is a human that is able to do something like that to his fellow human. The one that did that is an animal no less."
After hearing that Jiniro stops on his tracks and realizes how lawless this city can be, making him even more worried for his own life since he might end up the same if he doesn't do anything about looking for someone that will lead him to the Tower of Babel where his ancestors have originated.
"I just hope that there is someone that is capable here. Wait- this is a lawless city and I don't even know is everyone is reliable. At least the inn owner and everyone there are a bit reliable than the rest." He looks at the funds that he has left and realize that it would take a lot of money to hire someone that will lead him to the Tower of Babel and there is not a better place to look for than the place where all the people are gathered to issue a mission than the guild.
"I have asked about the guild from the inn owner and he is positive that they will be able fulfill every request that they are given." He looks at the amount of people that are going in and out of the guild and convince himself that it will be easy.
"Huuff- let's do this."
A few moments later and Jiniro finds himself outside the guild after getting refused. "What in the world? Why did they laugh at me? Did I do something wrong?" he looks back and sees that the people are still staring at him as if he is a madman and their giggles can be heard outside which infuriates him even more.
"I should have known that everyone in this place is not reliable." He said to himself as he walks back after a failure.
A few moments earlier,
"Hello young man." The receptionist looks at him sternly at first and realize that he is not a hunter that is affiliate with the guild and so he ask if he has business with the guild.
"Is there anything that I can help you with?"
Jiniro looks around and sees that everyone is busy with their businesses.
"I would like to issue a request for someone that can take me to the Tower of Babel. There is something that I should do and it is very important so I would like it to be done quickly."
The receptionist stares at Jiniro blankly and the once busy guild stayed silent for a few moments when they heard what Jiniro had said. "Wait, what?"
Jiniro looks at them in shock since he did not expect them to react that way. Confused as to why they are acting like this, Jiniro reiterated and only made things even more embarrassing and since they do not believe what he just said, he tells him about his people's mission to put everything back to normal and putting every demon back inside the rift.
The receptionist as well as the people inside the guild had listened to him attentively while Jinir on the other hand is embarrassed but did not stop himself from saying everything with a straight face. After telling them his mission, some of the people even went as far as give him an applause with the receptionist burying his face under his palms and disappointingly shakes his head.
"What in the world did you eat earlier? Have you been poisoned or something? Where did you even come up with this none sense?"
Offended about taking his mission lightly, Jiniro wants to argue with the receptionist but some of the hunters as well as costumers joined in, overwhelming the young man and ultimately making the receptionist escort him out of the building in shame.
"But that is my mission. I am telling the truth!"
"Shut up and just go out kid!"
"What are you doing? I am a costumer and I am here to put up a request! Why are they laughing at me? Did I say something wrong?"!
The receptionist is on the very of his patience but just held back and tells Jiniro why the people inside the guild has laughed at him.
"You got it all wrong young man. The Tower of Babel is nothing but just a myth, a legend. It has been over a thousand years and people have already forgotten about it. Do you think you are the only one that wants to find the Tower of Beginnings? There are countless people that tried to do the same in the past and they did not come back with results. Unless you are living under a rock for a hundred of years, you will not be aware or even informed of the tragedies that people went as far just to look for that place. Since then, people lost hope and just forgot about it. Now it just remains as a legend or a myth, just accept it kid, the tower is gone."
Seeing how the people of the city or at least the guild is not convinced that the tower still exist, he no longer has a reason to stay in front of the building and just walks away broken hearted.
