24. Misfortune

The weather was agreeable. Like every morning, he woke up early, but even after seeing the stunning face of Jane Dover who had been sleeping nearby, he did not get up from the bed. He had lots of work to do but his heart was denying to leave her today.

For a while, he just stared at her captivating face. He was waiting for hundreds of years for this morning when he first saw her face after waking up and now it was happening every morning.

When he was looking at her seriously, she breathed deeply and turned towards his side then held his palm and remained asleep. Darius Simard looked at her palm which was held by her in her sleep. He felt warm and pity. This was the same palm she had held on that riverbank when she came to meet him again.

Like yesterday, he was waiting for her to come even if he did not know whether she would come or not. It was already evening and he saw her. He smiled at her and she lowered her eyes shyly.

"I knew you will come." He chuckled.
