"Darius… Where are you?"
Darius Simard stopped. His gaze fell behind her. If she would step twice, she would fall into the river. He did not intend to scare her. To continue the war, it was necessary to tell her the truth about his identity. He did not want to lie.
"Jane." His voice was low.
"Who are you? Why have you disguised as my husband? Where is he?"
Darius Simard smiled sadly, "I will tell you everything. Will you throw fear away and listen to me?"
She kept looking at him in shock.
"I am not going to harm you. Trust me."
Jane Dover moved towards the trunk of the tree and leaned back. She wanted to feel safe.
"This is true that I am not Darius, but I am."
"What do you mean?"
"You are with me not from today, but from hundreds of years ago. In between, I was looking for you for a few years." His smile was attractive.
"I do not want to listen to hoax stories."
"I'm not a hoax."
