Chapter 7: The Dilemma

Amanda Heyes was many things. An artist, a good friend, a love of stories, a rom-com lover, a somewhat okay gardener, and hobbyist baker. But she was not a doctor.

After a humiliating and tiring round of dragging, pulling, and pushing, she had somehow managed to get the man wrapped up in a sheet and into the house. She’d then left him on the rug before the fireplace, and to her further embarrassment, sat next to his unconscious body with her laptop open to YouTube.

News anchor Natalie Fey greeted her with a, “Now you probably didn’t wake up this morning thinking that you would need to know how to use a bullet-wound first aid kit,” to which Amanda could only mutter, “Yeah, no kidding.”
