Chapter 30: Battle drag, war paint

Sol tried not to think about the food churning in his stomach. Weeks of preparation had led up to this night. There was no need to be nervous. He went over the different scenarios they had practiced over and over. Pat said that the biggest part of teamwork was knowing your part, and he was doing everything he could not to let his teammates down. IN the weeks of training leading up to this night, he had come to respect Pat's instincts for training and strategy. The lizard was very cunning when he needed to be.

"Keep eating. You'll need your strength," Pat prodded. Pat was a little bossy and Sol's stomach was so stretched he wanted to yell, but he knew Pat was right. The butterflies in his stomach were inevitable considering what they had planned and they seemed to go away the more pancakes and hamburgers he ate. He crammed another hand-full of french fries down his throat, as he stared at the milkshakes, and chicken tenders he was still supposed to conquer.
